Summary

Responsible for the fulfillment side of our Machine Tool sales by ensuring we meet the operational capability of all lines of Murata CNC lathes along with integrated 3-axis gantry loaders; apply the latest process techniques, tooling, Fanuc, and other software to develop robust engineering solutions for our customers. Travel to customer facilities for installation, CPK acceptance runoffs and customer machine operator training. Perform machine troubleshooting analysis as required.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Murata Machinery USA new and existing customers.

- Support the machining process concept and creation of Engineered solutions for customers turnkey projects.

- Communicate proactively on customer requests and submit them with weekly reports outlining any customer interactions and services rendered.

- Ability to install machines and/or machine accessories for stand alone sales in the Southern CA. area.

- Install measuring probes, PPG and other process specific peripheral components. Install and qualify appropriate tooling and work holding for turnkey or customer demo projects

- Create CNC programs manually and/or by using CadCam programming software.

- Setup machine and validate process to ensure it meets customers quality and cycle time requirements. Occasionally implement customer requests such as adding tool monitoring, redundant tooling, parametric programming, tool setter, and automation to their process.

- For customer Turnkeyed projects, perform the machine acceptance runoff with the customer present at our Charlotte, NC facility and then duplicate at their facility after installation. Post acceptance, provide customer personnel with machine operator training instruction and materials.

- Flexibility to travel to customer facilities domestically and internationally to perform and/or support with machine runoffs and operator training. May require some travel to Murata Machinery USA Inc, NC and/or Murata Machinery Ltd, Japan for specialized projects and training.

- Maintain project schedules and meet customer deadlines. Must be able to self-manage and work well under pressure, and tactfully communicate with customers and co-workers.

- Attend customer pre-sale meetings and provide feedback to Engineering, Project Management and Proposals groups with any concerns about part processing, tooling, etc.

- Understand Fanuc Diagnostic pages and Fanuc Ladder and PLC information to diagnose machine issues, feed this information back to the Service Department and/or Parts department.

- Trouble shoot machine process issues which may include surface finish issues, chip control, tool life, etc.

- Troubleshoot Muratec loader programs and Fanuc cycle tables.

- Set up PPG which includes changing out fixtures, adjusting transducers, perform gage R&R and set-up /program feedback to the machine.

- Work with Proposal Engineering group to select tooling for new assigned projects.

Tools and Equipment

Work with a variety of metal cutting machines and precision measuring instruments. Use of company supplied PC/Laptop to write reports, data spreadsheets and emails. Employee is responsible for his/hers own hand tools which include Allen wrenches, screw drivers, mallet, wrenches etc.

 

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

BS Degree (or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline and/or 7+ years related work experience with CNC Metal Cutting machines and turning applications; proficient with Solid Works, Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint experience; knowledge of GD&T, tooling, and end user applications in the Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, and Consumer industries. Experience with B2B and one on one customer interfacing is a plus.

Travel

This position requires up to 90% travel including domestic and international. Some overnight travel is expected. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required. Must have or be eligible to obtain a passport for international travel. Must travel with Muratec approved PPE at all times.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, make repetitive motions, stand, walk, push/pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, and hear (perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40db hearing loss 500Hz, 1000Hz and 2000Hz with or without correction, and the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine distinctions in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts. The employee must regularly exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
