Job Title: Application Software Engineer, Applied AI

Type of Position: Full Time

Location: Fully Remote

Pay: $125K- $180k

Job Description:

We're the technology team inside one of the country's preeminent personal-injury law firms, and we're building the AI systems that will change how the firm runs. In this Applied AI role, you will design, build, and ship modern AI systems including large language models and agentic systems that power the tools and infrastructure our case management teams and litigation attorneys rely on. You'll own these systems across the full lifecycle, from prototype to production, partnering closely with our case, litigation, and operations teams.

We're looking for an AI first developer who ships products e2e and treats AI as the primary way to get there. This role is about building the tools our teams use, where speed, creativity, and AI native workflows matter. You'll need a strong full-stack foundation and a proven track record of building and shipping real products in production.

Our team already builds AI agents, vibe coding, and AI-driven testing every day. Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, and Codex are standard kit. We're not looking for someone to introduce AI to the team we need someone who's already further ahead and can keep pushing the ceiling on what's possible when you combine a strong full-stack foundation with cutting-edge AI workflows.

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Build the AI-powered tools and agentic systems our case management and litigation teams use every day.
  • Communicate effectively with team leads and end users to deeply understand their workflows, and translate that understanding into the systems you build.
  • Own the full lifecycle of these systems design, build, deploy, monitor, and iterate from prototype to production.
  • Architect production systems for agentic workflows, tool-use, multi-agent orchestration, and retrieval that prioritize reliability and safety.
  • Build and maintain evaluation and observability for AI quality, safety, latency, and cost.
  • Write and maintain clear documentation for what you build.
  • Own CI/CD and modern testing practices so the team ships quickly and reliably.
  • Stay at the frontier of LLM techniques and bring emerging best practices into production.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong full-stack development experience.
  • A proven track record of building and shipping real products in production.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Codex).
  • Experience with CI/CD and modern testing practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-directed, and reliable.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical people.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Hands-on experience building and shipping AI-powered products from prototype through production and iteration.
  • Deep hands-on experience with modern LLM techniques: agentic systems, tool-use / function calling, multi-agent orchestration, advanced retrieval, and structured outputs.
  • Experience building AI evaluation systems (LLM-as-judge, automated eval harnesses, A/B testing) and observability.
  • Ability to deliver across multiple parallel priorities in a fast-paced, high reliability environment.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible Schedules
  • Medical, Dental, Vision and Pet Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Company-paid Life Insurance and AD&D Coverage, Voluntary Life Insurance
  • Short-term and Long-term Disability
  • Employee Assistance and Travel Assistance Programs
  • Paid Time Off, Paid Sick Time, Paid Holidays
  • Health FSA and Dependent Care FSA
  • Accident Insurance
  • Commuter Transportation Incentive
  • Cell Phone and Internet Stipend
  • Fully-paid parking
  • Learning and Development Programs
  • Voluntary Critical Illness Insurance
  • Remote Positions

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
