We’re seeking a Technical Manager, Mobile Engineering to lead and grow our talented Android and iOS development teams in Irvine, CA. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who still enjoys coding, architecture, and problem-solving but also thrives on mentoring engineers, building high-performing teams, and delivering products that delight users at scale.

As a Technical Manager, you’ll guide the design and development of our next-generation mobile applications built with KotlinJetpack ComposeSwift, and SwiftUI—using the latest frameworks, tools, and best practices. You’ll partner closely with product, design, and backend teams to define the mobile roadmap, ensure technical excellence, and deliver high-quality features that enhance the Apartments.com user experience.

You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction of our mobile platforms, establishing best practices for performance, code quality, and CI/CD, while fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Work closely with Product Management, Design, and other internal teams to define and scope mobile application features and functionality.
  • Translate business requirements in to technical requirements, develop project plan and work schedules for use by development team.
  • Successfully implement software development projects to specification and within scheduled timelines and budget parameters. 
  • Utilized the Agile Methodology to continuously deliver features each sprint to production.
  • Work with internal and external clients to document project success criteria.
  • Hire and develop a team of “A Players”.
  • Work with recruiting to identify, hire and onboard top industry talent.
  • Coach, motivate, train and retain “A Players”.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of the Multifamily and CRE Industry and CoStar’s position in the market.
  • Continually evaluate emerging mobile technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be used to strengthen CoStar’s technology platform and development practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not-for-profit, in-person college/university
  • A track record of commitment to prior employers 
  • 6+ years of experience with mobile iOS and/or Android application development
  • 4+ years in managing/leading a development team.
  • Experience with mission critical, high volume, mobile apps and/or web-based systems
  • Proficient in Android and/or iOS development tools, SDK, and related languages (Objective C/Swift/Java).

PREFERRED QUALIFCATIONS AND SKILLS  

  • Proficient in writing Unit Tests and/or Test Driven Development (TDD) preferred.
  • Ideal candidate is familiar/proficient in additional development tools; TFS/Jira, C#, SQL Server, Crashlytics
  • Strong computer system analysis and design skills in current methodologies and patterns including object oriented programming, MVC, SOA, DI, etc

We welcome all qualified candidates who are currently eligible to work full-time in the United States to apply. 

This position offers a base salary range of $173,000-$258,000, based on relevant skills and experience and includes a generous benefits plan.
