SpinLaunch is pioneering a new era of scalable space infrastructure. Following years of innovation in alternative launch systems, we’re now applying that same disruptive mindset to orbit—developing Meridian Space, a ground-breaking broadband satellite constellation built for rapid deployment and low-cost global coverage. With backing from industry leaders, SpinLaunch is positioned to deliver a fully integrated ecosystem of launch, satellite, and connectivity services. Join us in our mission and be an integral part of a close-knit, collaborative team that strives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. This is an on-site position located at our Long Beach, CA headquarters.

Your Mission on the Team:

Your mission is to accelerate the development of the revolutionary antenna technologies that are central to Meridian Space’s innovative approach to LEO satcom. Responsibilities include research, simulation, design, optimization, testing and calibration of new antenna technologies with the objective of deploying them in a satellite constellation on a short timeline.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s, or a Master’s degree in an engineering discipline with an emphasis in electromagnetic theory and/or microwave circuits
  • Good, intuitive understanding of electromagnetics and optics in microwave systems (refraction, diffraction, Huygen’s principle, etc.)
  • Experience in designing electronically scanned antennas
  • Experience in the design of patches, horns, or similar compact antennas
  • Expertise in electromagnetic simulation tools like HFSS, CST, or FEKO
  • Application of system simulation tools like Python or MATLAB
  • Familiarity with range testing and ability to operate relevant test equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work in a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing reflectarray or transmitarray antennas
  • Experience designing antennas for PCB manufacturability
  • Broader experience of RF/microwave systems (particularly 10.7 GHz – 51.4 GHz)
  • Experience with passive RF component characterization
  • Experience with near field antenna range testing
  • Experience with advanced beamforming methods
  • Experience using automation to conduct exploratory RF design analysis
  • Experience with space-qualified systems

ITAR Requirements

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
