Root was founded on the belief that car insurance is broken, and we set out to change it. We’re harnessing the power of technology to revolutionize this archaic, complicated industry. Using machine learning and mobile telematic platforms, we’ve built one of the most innovative insurtech companies in the world.

The Opportunity

At Root, we’re on a mission to improve the lives of our customers by offering better insurance solutions. We challenge ourselves to think differently in order to reimagine insurance: making it smarter, more equitable, and a better experience for all. We strive to “unbreak” the archaic insurance industry by using data and technology in innovative ways. Analytics sits at the center of this vision: disciplined, research-driven, and relentlessly focused on building products and partnerships our customers love.

Partnerships are one of Root’s most important growth levers, enabling us to reach new customers through innovative distribution models. The Partner Analytics team is critical to this mission — powering data-driven decisions that help evaluate, optimize, and scale Root’s partner portfolio.

As Manager of Partnership Analytics, you will lead a high-performing team of analysts dedicated to evaluating, optimizing, and scaling our partner portfolio. You’ll work closely with leaders across Business Development, Software Engineering, Product, and Marketing—bringing clarity through data, challenging assumptions with disciplined analysis, and shaping strategy with compelling insights.

This role offers the opportunity to directly influence Root’s growth trajectory and partnerships strategy, while building the frameworks and talent that make partnership analytics a durable competitive advantage.

Salary Range:  $134,000 - $155,000 (Bonus and LTI eligible)
Root is a “work where it works best” company. Meaning we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US. We will continue to have our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead and develop a team of analysts focused on our strategic partnerships channels.
  • Translate ambiguous business questions into analytical frameworks, experiments, and models — including forecasting and ROI modeling.
  • Partner with Business Development, Engineering, and Product to evaluate, onboard, and optimize partner relationships.
  • Build and maintain scalable dashboards and reporting infrastructure to measure partner performance and economics.
  • Conduct cohort, funnel, and retention analyses of actuals versus forecasts to diagnose partner effectiveness.
  • Own testing and measurement frameworks for partner pilots and growth initiatives.
  • Serve as the analytics “voice of truth” in cross-functional partner strategy discussions.

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • 5+ years in analytics, decision science, or data strategy, with at least 1+ years managing analysts.
  • Strong experience in SQL, experimentation design (A/B Testing), and applied statistics.
  • An interest in LLMs and AI-enabled tools preferred
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional leaders with data-driven insights.
  • Experience with partnership or B2B2C analytics within insurance strongly preferred (but not required).
  • Balance of strategic thinking and hands-on analytical execution.
  • Effective communication and storytelling skills. Able to frame technical findings in a clear, strategic way for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits and a high ownership mindset. You take initiative and thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
