StubHub’s Finance and Strategy AE team builds the data foundations and analytics products that produce robust accounting primitives and enable accuratetimely, and actionable insights for Finance, Leadership, and strategic teams. Our mission is to empower high quality financial reporting, data-informed decision making, and strategic planning by owning the models, pipelines, metrics, and executive tools that structure how the company understands performance. 

About the role: 

This leader will shape the analytics engineering foundation for the finance domain and drive the systems that power executive visibility and company strategy. The team owns the definition and implementation of the company’s top level business KPIs, the data used for financial reporting, and the tools that guide strategic decisions. The role carries direct exposure to senior leadership, broad cross-functional influence, and significant responsibility for aligning financial signals with business analytics. 

You will guide the ongoing development of critical pipelines, mature executive reporting, and accelerate our ability to generate insights efficiently. Location: Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) – Santa Monica, CA or New York, NY

What You'll Do:

  • Drive measurable impact  - Identify high leverage analytics engineering and financial data problems, define clear success metrics, and deliver solutions that improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and decision quality. Champion efforts that tie together financial and business analytics into one coherent narrative. 
  • Raise the bar on talent density - Hire and develop analytics engineers across multiple levels. Coach individuals through both technical and strategic problem solving. Build a culture that strengthens ownership, trust, and technical excellence. 
  • Advance data quality and governance - Maintain a high quality data foundation for the finance domain. Champion modeling standards, documentation, observability, and structured KPI definitions. Ensure executive reporting and top level business metrics are accurate, consistent, and well understood. 
  • Elevate analytics platforms and architecture - Own the evolution of pipelines, modeling frameworks, and analytics tooling across our data stack. Partner with DE and FinTech platform teams to elevate existing platform capabilities. 
  • Expand executive reporting and insights - Guide product discovery and prioritization for new executive dashboards, KPIs, and decision support tools. Establish clear ownership models, improve adoption, and scale reporting that informs C-staff and business leaders. 
  • Foster team health - Build an inclusive environment with psychological safety, clarity, and shared accountability. Support teammates in their growth and careers. 
  • Partner across the business - Collaborate with FP&A, Strategy, Finance, Data Science, and Engineering to align on priorities, integrate financial and operational signals, and deliver analytics products that directly influence company strategy. 

What Success Looks Like: 

  • A trusted, well governed financial data foundation that enables accurate and efficient reporting. 
  • Clear, stable ownership of top level KPIs and executive reporting tools. 
  • Demonstrable increases in data quality, modeling consistency, and reduction of legacy debt. 
  • Improved alignment between financial metrics and business analytics that enhances strategic storytelling. 
  • A high performing team with visible growth, strong engagement, and expanded analytical leverage through automation or AI assisted workflows. 

What You've Done:

  • 10 or more years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or similar roles building production grade datasets and analytical systems. 
  • 2 or more years of people leadership experience with a track record of hiring, developing, and inspiring technical teams. 
  • Deep experience with modern cloud computing (we use Airflow, dbt, and Snowflake) along with strong SQL and data modeling foundations. 
  • Background partnering with Finance and/or business analytics teams and familiarity with financial reporting, forecasting, and KPI development. 
  • Experience leading cross functional initiatives with Data Engineering, Data Science, and Finance. 
  • Ability to drive execution, define clear metrics, and communicate effectively with technical and executive stakeholders. 
  • Strong judgment, comfort with ambiguity, and a habit of candid, constructive feedback. 
  • A reputation for building trust, elevating talent, and serving as a cultural anchor for teams.

The anticipated gross base pay range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.
