Summary:

The Title Analyst III – Servicing Operations Support is responsible for filing loan policy insurance claims against title issues as recommended by legal counsel or as determined upon examination of title reports.  Also responsible for managing escalated Title issues on loans where the company has retained outside counsel to litigate, settle, or resolve Title Issues to provide clear and marketable Title.  The Analyst III researches all aspects of the file issue while communicating with and monitoring Counsel’s work on the file.  Evaluate and examine property reports and title policies to determine problems or restrictions with lien position and conveyances. Facilitate communication with attorneys and underwriters to determine best course of title resolution based on state laws and investor guidelines and requirements. Assist management with monthly reporting, special projects, and documentation of department processes and procedures; serve as peer coach/trainer, including assisting with resolution of complex problems and issues, new processes and departmental changes, training of new staff; other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and resolve escalated and complex Title files with the assistance of Legal Counsel

  • Manage the Title Curative email inbox for incoming files and assign out to other Analysts as necessary and based on the issue involved with the file

  • Investigate possible title issues initiated by borrower correspondence

  • Serve as initial resource for questions from new or existing staff

  • Aid peers with review and analysis of complex title issues to determine steps for resolution

  • Support management in identifying needs for additional training or workflow changes based on observation and assist with training and implementation of the same

  • Review and analyze title issues denoted in property reports

  • Analyze and compare loan policies to property reports to assess additional exposure to risk and issues with lien position and conveyance

  • Abstract and verify property records using vendor databases and online services

  • Review, analyze, and interpret documents including but not limited to, loan documents, legal documents, policies, regulations, and guidelines

  • Maintain portfolio of complex title issues and detailed records of claim resolution or settlement, including timelines and correspondence

  • Ensure accounts are properly documented with actions taken, correspondence, and explanation of controllable vs non controllable delays

  • Attorney-fee approvals and dispute of attorney-fee requests

  • Perform various functions using company systems and software, including but not limited to, proper file notations, loading of supporting documentation into imaging system of record, reviewing/completing assigned tasks, monitor attorney tasks and responses.

  • Escalate issues involving potential loss of lien priority, monetary losses, or any other potential loss or risk exposure to management

  • Prepare monthly status reports for management

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal

  • Extensive knowledge of legal terminology as it relates to title insurance and property law

  • Read, analyze and interpret legal documents, policies, regulations, and guidelines

  • Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

  • Research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

  • Self-manage time and task prioritization

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree, some post-secondary courses or certificate preferred

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Complexity:

PProblems and issues faced are general but require analysis of FFOC’s  policies and procedures, as well as external best practices and regulations, to assess and resolve.
