The Commerce Analyst will support BDG's commerce strategy by analyzing product data, optimizing article performance, and collaborating with editorial teams to enhance revenue generation through affiliate marketing.
Bustle Digital Group is seeking a Commerce Analyst to join our successful and growing Commerce (affiliate marketing) team. The team consists of editors and business strategists who create well-researched articles about products for all of BDG’s sites (including Elite Daily, Romper, Bustle, The Zoe Report, as well as current and future sites owned by BDG). Commerce articles are written with the goal of generating revenue from sales of products featured in the articles.
In this role, you’ll support the execution of BDG’s commerce strategy by analyzing product and traffic data, identifying new opportunities for optimization, and helping surface compelling product recommendations that drive revenue. You’ll also collaborate closely with editorial, design, and tech teams to bring commerce initiatives to life.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for identifying the best affiliate products to feature in articles, the best way to market these products, and for adding affiliate product links and images to content
- Use analytics tools (like Google Analytics) to identify existing content in which to add affiliate product links; coordinate with relevant editors and writers as needed to add links and images to content
- Use analytics to monitor commerce articles’ performance and inform our strategy on article topics to cover and products to feature, based on what’s most likely to succeed
- Research products to feature in BDG articles by studying popular products and new product trends, analyzing the BDG audience’s interests, and successful previous product sales generated by BDG articlesBuild, refine, and maintain analytical tools and dashboards (primarily in Excel/Google Sheets) to evaluate product sales trends and article performance
- Develop new, and continue to build out existing, analytical tools (using programs like Excel, Google Analytics, etc.) to analyze performance of product-related articles and product sales
- Assist in testing optimal affiliate strategies: researching third party commerce platforms and services to test, A/B testing BDG’s affiliate articles to optimize our user interface, etc.
- Help develop and run marketing campaigns across major social media platforms to promote commerce editorial content
- Manage the workflow of part-time employees who add product links into content and assist in performance analysis
- Assist in other projects including analyzing and researching marketing and e-commerce trends to develop new strategies and optimize existing strategies to promote revenue growth
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail; strong analytical and organizational skills
- BA/BS degree (Marketing , Business, Product Merchandising, Journalism or loosely-related fields)
- At least 1-2 years of experience in E- Commerce, Marketing, Business or related fields
- Strategic, creative, and analytical thinker with excellent verbal and written skills; ability to multitask
- Strong technology-related skills, aptitude, and interest - solid MS Office (Excel) skills and Google Analytics aptitude
- Proficiency working with large datasets in spreadsheets and translating raw data into clear, actionable insightsInterest in e-commerce and editorial content
- Willingness to go above & beyond what is asked, enthusiasm, and a strong desire to succeed
- A self-starter who can take an idea and run with it without direct oversight
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, test-and-learn environment where priorities can shift based on performance insights
