About the Role

The connect team is responsible for building solutions that connect people during their journey in chess! From friends to top players listing, from followers to puzzle path ranking and how you are performing compared to friends; connect is the team working to make sure user-to-user interactions are as smooth and fun as it can be :)

About You

You take pride in writing high-quality, high-performance code, and enjoy working with a team of awesome developers. You are humble with a sense of humor and don’t take yourself too seriously. You embrace the new and believe AI is a game changer that is here to amplify your already solid skills, not a threat to your career. You have been working in or dreamed of working in the gaming industry and are ready to turn your talents towards chess! We have served more than two BILLION chess games, and we need you to help take us to 10 billion and beyond.



What you'll do

  • You will work with service-based architecture and cloud native apps to maintain system efficiency and security
  • You will use Cursor and Claude to build technologies that are AI-first
  • You will code! A lot!
  • You will do code reviews
  • You will ship a ton of applications to k8s and have fun with building telemetry and watching their dashboards
  • You will design software serving traffic originating from millions of users



Preferred Skills

  • Solid skills in one or more programming languages (Swift, Kotlin, Typescript, PHP or Java are very welcome).
  • Solid engineering background in one or more stacks (Vue, Symfony, Spring Boot)
  • Experience prompting and interacting with AI-native code editors (Claude Code/Cursor)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills working in a fully distributed team
  • Sense of ownership and responsibility
