About Optimism

Optimism is a digital publisher focused on wellbeing. We conceive, launch, and operate digital brands across health, wellness, longevity, and lifestyle. With an email-first approach, our goal is to transform the inbox into a healthier alternative to social media feeds — a place where readers can curate content that informs, inspires, and supports better daily habits.

About the Role

All Healthy is launching a web publishing operation to complement its daily newsletter. This role will lead the day-to-day editorial execution required to build and maintain that web presence, in addition to our future healthy recipe brand, Better Plates.

You will be responsible for producing and managing a steady flow of web content across several formats, including search-driven stories, quick-turn news pieces, and articles republished from the newsletter. The goal is to extend the reach of All Healthy’s editorial work, improve discoverability in search and Google Discover, and create a reliable publishing rhythm on the site.

This is a hands-on editorial role for someone comfortable moving between writing, editing, assigning, and publishing. You will work closely with the newsletter team to ensure web and email publishing complement one another while maintaining high editorial standards and consistent output.

Accountabilities
  • Execute a consistent weekly publishing cadence for the All Healthy website across multiple content types, including SEO stories, web-first news stories, and republished newsletter articles
  • Execute the editorial for the developing Better Plates recipe and food vertical
  • Identify search opportunities using keyword research tools (e.g., Ahrefs or SEMrush) and assign or edit stories designed to compete effectively in search results
  • Write quick-turn news stories covering timely developments in health and wellness, including research findings, product recalls, lawsuits, and other newsworthy events
  • Manage freelance writers as needed, including briefing assignments, editing drafts, and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Republish completed newsletter stories to the website, ensuring formatting, links, and images display correctly in the CMS
  • Program and maintain the website homepages and category pages to ensure the sites feels fresh, well-organized, and editorially strong
  • Maintain editorial workflow in Airtable, including tracking assignments, managing production timelines, and coordinating with contributors
  • Monitor analytics and search performance to identify opportunities for improvement and inform future story selection
  • Support the development of longer-form guides or evergreen content projects as needed

RequirementsQualifications
  • 4–7 years of experience in editorial, content, or communications at a digital publisher or similar environment
  • Strong writing and editing experience, ideally in health, wellness, or lifestyle media
  • Experience managing freelance writers and editorial assignments
  • Proficiency in SEO fundamentals (keyword research, search intent, on-page optimization) and tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush
  • Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) and editorial tools like Airtable
  • Familiarity with content performance metrics and using data to inform decisions

Competencies

  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to identify timely, high-impact stories
  • Ability to maintain a consistent brand voice
  • Clear, concise writer with strong editing skills across short- and long-form content
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage workflows, deadlines, and publishing schedules
  • Self-directed, with the ability to prioritize and maintain consistent output
  • Detail-oriented, with a high bar for quality and accuracy
  • Collaborative and comfortable working cross-functionally
  • Bias toward action, iteration, and continuous improvement
  • Interest in health, wellness, and longevity trends

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
