Aladdin® is an operating system for investment managers that seeks to connect the information, people, and technology needed to manage money in real time. The Aladdin platform combines risk analytics with portfolio management, trading, compliance, and operations tools on a single platform to power informed decision-making, effective risk management, efficient trading, and operational scale. Aladdin is used by a community of over 200 institutional clients around the world, including BlackRock. There are over 50,000 end users of Aladdin globally. The team is comprised of 800+ professionals responsible for implementing and supporting our Aladdin clients, sales and marketing, and ensuring the Aladdin Community maximizes Aladdin products through engagement and education. 

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) to join our team. The Director will be accountable for managing a group of large clients or an industry group, ensuring the health of overall relationships, and maximizing the value of the Aladdin relationship. This role requires a consultative approach to building relationships, strategic management, and commercial acumen. 

 

Key responsibilities include: 

Client Relationship Management: 

  • Accountable for a group of large clients or an industry group. 

  • Establish strong relationships with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted partner. 

  • Consultative approach to building and maintaining client relationships. 

Strategic Management: 

  • Recognize opportunities to evolve the relationship strategy at the group level. 

  • Propagate client narratives to senior management internally. 

  • Set and execute the commercial strategy for each client. 

Commercial: 

  • Understand and quantify new revenue opportunities at clients. 

  • Build and execute on a harvesting pipeline. 

Market Intelligence: 

  • Develop a strong understanding of the client's industry and competitive landscape. 

  • Participate in industry conferences and build an industry executive-level narrative. 

Collaboration across partner teams 

  • Plan executive engagement strategies across partner teams. 

  • Advocate for client strategic plans to partner teams. 

  • Strong culture carrier and thought leader. 

People management 

  • People management of client team within a given region 

  • Career pathing of direct reports and seek relevant stretch objectives 

 

Required Skills and Experience 

  • 7+ years of work experience in the financial services or technology industry 

  • Prior experience in account management, relationship management and/ or supporting harvesting and growth opportunities 

  • Strong interest in FinTech, with prior knowledge of databases 

  • Familiarity with buy-side investment management workflows 

  • Proficient in market trends and industry knowledge 

  • Understanding of analytics concepts relevant to portfolio risk and performance 

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts simply and clearly to clients 

  • Self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity environment and works well as part of a multi-disciplinary global team 

  • Excellent relationship management, consultancy, and business development skills. 

  • Ability to set and execute commercial strategies and build harvesting pipelines. 

  • Commercial negotiation skills 

  • Ability to manage complex client relationships and internal stakeholders. 

 
Preferred Skills and Experience 

  • CFA, FRM, CIMA, or CAIA certification 

  • Account management / relationship management with external clients 


 

For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$195,000.00 - USD$275,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
