The AJO Lead Technical Consultant designs and implements customer journeys using Adobe Journey Optimizer, ensuring data integration, messaging, and analytics alignment while conducting QA and collaborating across teams for successful delivery.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AJO Lead Technical Consultant to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of customer journeys using Adobe Journey Optimizer.
This role sits at the intersection of marketing, data, and technology — requiring a hands-on expert who can build and activate journeys, while also guiding clients through best practices and scalable solution design.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience across Adobe Experience Cloud, with a deep understanding of real-time customer data, journey orchestration, and cross-channel personalization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of customer journeys using Adobe Journey Optimizer, including event-triggered and cross-channel campaigns.
- Build, configure, and activate journeys across channels such as email, push notifications, SMS, and web.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, data-driven journey orchestration strategies.
- Collaborate with data and engineering teams to ensure proper data flow, ingestion, and activation within Adobe Experience Platform.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to journey execution, audience qualification, and data pipelines.
- Optimize journeys through testing, personalization strategies, and performance analysis.
- Act as a client-facing lead, guiding stakeholders through best practices and solution design.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to internal teams and/or client stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience working with Adobe Journey Optimizer, including building and activating journeys (not just strategy or oversight).
- Strong understanding of Adobe Experience Platform, including XDM schemas, data ingestion (batch and streaming), and Real-Time CDP (RTCDP).
- Experience orchestrating complex, real-time, cross-channel customer journeys with personalization and decisioning logic.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across AJO and AEP, including data flow and segmentation challenges.
- Experience working in client-facing or consulting environments, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Strong collaboration skills working with cross-functional teams (marketing, data, engineering).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with additional Adobe solutions such as Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, or Adobe Campaign.
- Background in other CDPs or marketing automation platforms (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, Tealium, Segment).
- Experience leading implementations or mentoring junior team members.
- Experience with APIs, JSON, or working alongside engineering teams on integrations.
- Experience with AJO preferred; strong AEP/RTCDP candidates with cross-channel journey orchestration experience will also be considered.
