Blavity Inc. is launching an innovative live and pre-recorded video series across YouTube and owned platforms. We are seeking 4 dynamic On-Air Correspondents to serve as the face and voice for specialized content categories while authentically engaging Black millennial & Gen Z audiences through compelling storytelling and interactive discussions.

Each talent will focus on one of four key areas:

  • Medical: Expert in medical technology & clinical trials who speaks on industry trends and interviews doctors and product leaders
  • AfroTech: Covers tech conferences with live streaming and commentary; hosts bi-weekly AfroTech Live Show
  • Politics: Hosts weekly live-streamed Town Hall on major political issues affecting Black communities
  • Pop Culture: Hosts weekly town halls on trending culture topics with dynamic personality for "unfiltered" conversation format

This is a (1099) hourly contract position requiring weekly or bi-weekly remote productions, with quarterly participation in special "mega-topic" live production events featuring full switchboard setup. Talent will work closely with producers and content teams to deliver culturally relevant programming that informs and empowers our core audience.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as on-camera host for assigned weekly or bi-weekly live streams and pre-recorded segments within your specialized category
  • Engage audiences authentically and facilitate interactive discussions during live sessions, creating dynamic and participatory viewing experiences
  • Interview industry experts, product leaders, and community voices relevant to your content category
  • Prepare comprehensive talking points, scripts, and research materials for each segment while maintaining spontaneous conversational flow
  • Collaborate closely with producers and content teams to shape the tone, structure, and delivery of programming
  • Maintain consistency with Blavity's brand voice, cultural values, and commitment to authentic Black storytelling
  • Represent Blavity professionally in industry settings and conferences (AfroTech host will travel to major tech events for live coverage)
  • Stay current on trending topics, breaking news, and cultural movements within your specialized area
  • Participate in pre-production planning meetings and post-production review sessions
  • Help ideate creative content segments that expand reach and relevance to Blavity's core audience
Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in on-air hosting, live streaming, digital video production, podcasting, or similar broadcast platforms
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in chosen focus area:
    • Medical: Clinical research, medical technology, healthcare industry trends, and regulatory environments
    • AfroTech: Technology innovation, start-up culture, venture capital, and Black tech community dynamics
    • Politics: U.S. and global politics, policy analysis, and issues specifically impacting Black communities
    • Pop Culture: Entertainment industry, social media trends, music, and Black cultural movements
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills with ability to distill complex topics into accessible, conversational delivery
  • Strong improvisation abilities and comfort in live or unscripted formats
  • Professional, punctual, and collaborative with excellent editorial judgment
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable managing basic remote production setups including lighting, audio, and streaming software
  • Previous experience with remote production environments preferred

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience interviewing high-profile guests and industry leaders
  • Background in journalism, broadcasting, or digital media production
  • Comfortable with audience Q&A and real-time interaction during live programming

Technologies: Fluent in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Frame I.O, and various streaming platforms

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a proven ability to transform unorganized/complex information into rigorously structured, insight-oriented content
  • High-energy, positive attitude; must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced, dynamic media environment
  • Excellent analytical skills; outgoing and sociable personality; willing to wear multiple hats as needed
  • Naturally detail-oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findings and insights
  • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture
