A Better Built World

At Miter, we’re on a mission to help construction contractors build with confidence. If we’re successful, we’ll make it easier and faster to build critical physical infrastructure - roads, bridges, utilities, data centers, housing, etc.

For decades, construction and field services contractors have had to run their businesses on outdated software: clunky, on-premise systems created in the 1980s and 1990s.

That’s where Miter comes in. We’re using AI and embedded payments to rebuild the core HR, finance, and operations systems that underpin our physical economy. Using Miter, contractors like Marathon Electrical, W.J. O’Neil, and Truebeck Construction are building stronger teams, controlling job costs, and accelerating jobsite execution.

This idea is resonating. Since we launched in 2021, we’ve grown to thousands of customers and tens of millions in ARR, making us one of the fastest growing vertical software companies ever. To double-down on our momentum, we’ve raised $50M+ from top investors (Bessemer, Coatue, and Battery) who share our belief that we’re just getting started.

About the Team & How We Work

You'll join a small, high-leverage team building the operating systems that power Miter from the inside. We believe that a better-built world starts with a better-built Miter, so we’re rethinking how internal teams work, what tools they use, and how AI can multiply what each person ships.

To start, you'll be embedded with our Customer Experience (CX) org, where fragmented information and manual processes slow down the people closest to our customers. You'll have wide latitude to pick the right problems, design the right systems, and partner with engineers to ship them. We move fast, write things down, and care more about outcomes than activity.

This role sits at the intersection of product, ops, and applied AI. You'll build systems and deploy models that become the connective tissue of how Miter operates.

What You'll Do
  • Own Miter's internal product roadmap. Look across the business, identify the highest-leverage opportunities to improve how we operate, and design the systems to capture them, in close partnership with engineering.

  • Embed deeply with CX. Use AI, data, and internal tooling to remove friction and speed up execution where fragmented information and manual processes slow teams down.

  • Own core internal systems and data infrastructure. Make sure customer context, key metrics, and workflows are connected across tools, and accessible to the people (and agents) who need them.

  • Drive cross-functional projects through influence. Translate ambiguity into clear PRDs, oversee engineers via indirect reporting lines, and earn the trust of the internal teams you serve.

What You'll Need
  • 4+ years in a highly strategic generalist role (management consulting, product management, BizOps, or similar), including experience taking products from 0 to 1.

  • A nose for impact. You can look across a business and spot where a unit of effort returns an order of magnitude in value.

  • Baseline technical fluency. You're comfortable reading API docs, drafting PRDs, and stitching together internal tooling (including AI-powered workflows) without waiting on engineering for every step.

  • Clear linear thinking and writing. You can take large amounts of messy, imperfect information and turn it into a logical plan that others can act on.

  • Empathy and strong listening skills. You can hear the "so what" behind the pain your internal customers articulate, and translate it into the right thing to build.

Hybrid vs. Remote Approach:

We believe the magic of Miter comes from working side by side. We also believe in work flexibility. For roles that are listed as hybrid, our approach is 3 days a week in the office giving us the chance to connect, brainstorm, and build stronger relationships. If you live within a reasonable commute to either our New York City or San Francisco offices, we ask that you work in our hybrid approach.

Otherwise, for roles listed as remote or in other cities where we don't have an office location, there is no requirement to work in our hybrid approach. We do travel a few times a year for onboarding, company-wide and team specific off-sites!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
