AI Strategist

Aimpoint Digital is a premier AI & Data consulting firm with a mission to drive business value for clients through expertise in AI, data strategy and analytics. We partner with organizations to solve complex business problems through innovative, scalable solutions.

This role sits within our Strategy practice and is focused on helping clients identify where AI can create meaningful business value and build practical strategies to realize that value across the organization.

What You Will Do

As an AI Strategist, you will act as a trusted advisor to clients, partnering with business and technology leaders to identify, prioritize, and operationalize high-value AI opportunities.

You will work across functions to understand how work gets done today, conduct value stream and business process mapping, identify areas of inefficiency or opportunity, and determine where AI can improve productivity, decision making, customer experience, or business performance.

A key part of this role is helping clients move beyond broad AI adoption toward a clear understanding of where AI can have the greatest impact within their organization. You will evaluate both productivity-focused opportunities and more significant opportunities to redesign workflows, improve processes, or create new capabilities.

You will translate these opportunities into comprehensive AI strategies, prioritized use case portfolios, business cases, and implementation roadmaps. You will also help clients evaluate AI tools and platforms, including Anthropic, OpenAI, and other leading providers, and determine which technologies are best suited for specific business needs.

You will own the delivery of client engagements end-to-end and contribute to the continued development of our AI Strategy offerings. This includes supporting business development, shaping proposals, developing reusable methodologies and frameworks, mentoring team members, and contributing to the growth of the Strategy practice.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a client-facing AI strategist who combines strong business acumen, structured problem solving, and practical experience applying modern AI tools to business problems.

You are comfortable working in complex organizations where opportunities are not clearly defined. You can engage stakeholders across functions, understand how work and value flow through an organization, and identify where AI can deliver measurable improvements.

You are able to distinguish between use cases that provide incremental productivity benefits and opportunities where AI can materially improve a process, workflow, decision, or business outcome. You can assess opportunities objectively and recognize when AI is not the appropriate solution.

You are a highly skilled communicator who can bridge business and technology, translate complex problems into clear recommendations, and guide senior stakeholders through prioritization and investment decisions.

You also maintain practical knowledge of the evolving AI technology landscape. You understand the strengths, limitations, and enterprise applications of leading platforms and can evaluate which tools are appropriate for different use cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client engagements focused on AI use case identification, prioritization, strategy development, and roadmap creation
  • Conduct value stream mapping, business process mapping, stakeholder interviews, and workshops to understand how work is performed across an organization
  • Identify productivity opportunities where AI can reduce manual effort, accelerate knowledge work, improve employee effectiveness, or simplify existing processes
  • Identify higher-value opportunities where AI can improve business processes, support better decision making, automate workflows, or enable new organizational capabilities
  • Evaluate and prioritize AI use cases based on expected business value, feasibility, complexity, risk, data requirements, organizational readiness, and time to value
  • Translate identified opportunities into comprehensive AI strategies, prioritized use case portfolios, and practical implementation roadmaps
  • Develop business cases for AI initiatives, including ROI analysis, cost-benefit analysis, productivity impact, capacity creation, and value realization frameworks
  • Evaluate AI tools and platforms, including Anthropic, OpenAI, and other leading providers, and recommend the appropriate technology for specific business requirements
  • Compare AI platforms based on practical considerations such as capabilities, integration requirements, security, governance, cost, scalability, and user experience
  • Work closely with business and technical teams to determine the appropriate solution approach for identified opportunities, including productivity tools, workflow automation, custom applications, and AI-enabled business processes
  • Define KPIs and measurement frameworks to track adoption, productivity improvements, financial impact, and overall business value
  • Advise senior stakeholders on AI investment priorities, trade-offs, risks, and sequencing
  • Support Business Development through proposal scoping, client pursuits, development of AI Strategy offerings, and thought leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Business or related field preferred
  • 3-5 years of recent consulting, advisory, or other client-facing strategy experience leading AI, analytics, digital transformation, process improvement, or related initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and prioritizing business opportunities through stakeholder interviews, workshops, process analysis, or value stream mapping
  • Experience translating business processes and operational challenges into practical technology or AI use cases
  • Strong experience developing business cases, including value quantification, ROI analysis, cost-benefit analysis, or productivity impact assessment
  • Practical experience using modern AI tools such as Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, or similar platforms for analysis, prototyping, workflow improvement, or solution delivery
  • Ability to compare AI tools and platforms and recommend appropriate solutions based on business requirements rather than individual product preferences
  • Strong understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and practical applications within large organizations
  • Experience developing strategic recommendations and implementation roadmaps for complex organizations
  • Strong communication skills with experience presenting recommendations to senior and executive stakeholders

Preferred

  • Experience conducting value stream mapping, process redesign, operating model, or productivity improvement initiatives
  • Experience evaluating and selecting AI tools, vendors, or enterprise platforms
  • Familiarity with AI capabilities within platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, or similar enterprise technology environments
  • Experience with workflow automation, AI-assisted decision making, or AI-enabled business process redesign
  • Experience conducting organizational readiness assessments across people, process, data, technology, and governance
  • Hands-on experimentation with AI tools, including prompt design, workflow development, tool integration, or rapid prototyping
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML concepts, automation platforms, or MLOps practices is a plus
  • Relevant certifications in data management, process improvement, project delivery, AI governance, or related disciplines are a plus

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
