HubSpot’s mission is to help millions of organizations grow better. Our Media and Content team plays an important role in achieving this mission by reaching, educating and entertaining, and converting new customers at different steps in their journey. And we believe AI will continue to play an instrumental role in improving how we do this; improving production processes, demand generation, speed to market, and collaboration.

Today, HubSpot Media content reaches 50 million people every month through such popular franchises as The Hustle, My First Million, and dozens of other YouTube channels, newsletters, podcasts, creator partnerships, blogs and more.

As our AI Specialist and Engineer, you’ll join a specialized pod on our Media team that’s focused on:

  1. Identifying existing or net-new Media use cases where AI (agents, prompts, systems, tools, internal microapps, et al.) have the opportunity to improve the efficiency, personalization and/or effectiveness of our content, lead magnets and audience development work
  2. Prioritizing and executing against a roadmap of Media-focused initiatives
  3. Supporting overall AI adoption, training, and ensuring smooth integration of AI tools and projects into existing Media workflows
  4. Conducting ongoing business impact analyses to drive iteration
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with content and monetization teams to identify opportunities where AI prompt strategies, tools, or agents/microapps can empower our teams and unlock growth, while maintaining high creative standards
  • Use knowledge of AI tools, popular LLMs and effective prompting, and web services APIs to create internal AI solutions based on these opportunities. Work with Media and cross-functional leads to ideate, capture trends and insights, and report on progress
  • Partner with HubSpot Media’s producers, editors, marketers and creative teams to both conceptualize and prototype AI-assisted projects; and ensure their outputs align with the editorial, business and audience expectations
  • Establish and maintain a prompt engineering playbook, documenting tested prompts, effective structures, and user guidelines to ensure consistent output across different teams and use cases
  • Constantly research and test new external technologies and vendor solutions to stay ahead of industry trends and improve the impact (and fidelity) of our AI efforts
  • Develop workflows that effectively combine human expertise with AI capabilities to enhance human creativity and judgment
  • Work in an AI-focused media pod made up of yourself, a PM and a business / data analyst to think through, plan and execute new AI projects
  • Provide technical thought leadership and actively contribute to the strategic goals for the group and our cross-Marketing AI strategies at large
Skills:
  • [Required] Demonstrated record of developing agents or other AI apps (e.g. using Agent.ai, LangChain, AutoGPT, or similar), creating and refining effective prompts for specialized use cases, and a deep and technical understanding of popular AI tools and LLMs – and how to best harness their full potential
  • Have experience in tools as follows:
    • [Required] Thorough hands-on prompting experience with Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini
    • Integrating third party APIs into relevant LLMs and no/low-code platforms like Zapier, Make or Bubble
    • Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and ability to integrate third-party services
    • Working with common web development technologies, languages (e.g. Python), and frameworks
    • Experience with marketing technology (e.g., workflow automation tools, CDPs, CRMs, Data Warehouses, etc.)
    • Some prior experience or interest in content and media and using content or marketing management platforms
  • Have strong project management and communication skills. This is a requirement. You must be able to effectively communicate technical topics and areas of progress/blockage to both functional and technical audiences - switching between context and modes of communication as appropriate.
  • Have a growth mindset; a love for learning, figuring out how things work and evolving what exists today - and a passion for AI that drives them to stay on the cutting edge of thought leadership in the space
  • Are detail-oriented and take pride in thorough testing and documentation.  Demonstrate a logical and scalable solutioning mindset
  • Are a great collaborator, able to manage relationships with many stakeholders across the business

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
