ABOUT THE ROLE

Accela is seeking a motivated and curious AI Product Development Associate to support the development of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions for our Civic Platform and Digital Plan Room. You will work closely with our Sr. AI Solutions Architect and cross-functional teams to help design, prototype, and evaluate AI-powered features that enhance the efficiency and intelligence of digital plan review processes.

This will be a six month temporary role.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist in the development and testing of AI/ML models, including LLMs, RAG pipelines, and computer vision tools.
  • Support data preparation, annotation, and preprocessing tasks for training and evaluating models.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate AI features into product workflows.
  • Help build and maintain model evaluation dashboards and performance monitoring tools.
  • Research and prototype new AI technologies and frameworks relevant to plan review automation.
  • Document findings, experiments, and best practices to support knowledge sharing and future development.

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Python and common AI/ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, OpenCV).
  • Understanding of foundational AI concepts such as NLP, computer vision, and model evaluation.
  • Experience with REST APIs, Git, and basic DevOps tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

COMPENSATION AND WELL-BEING

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $20/hour - $25/hour. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience. In addition to an annual base salary, this role is eligible to earn commissions.

This temporary, non-exempt position is not benefits eligible except for statutory requirements.
