About the Role

As an AI Product Intern, you will work closely with engineers, researchers, and product leaders to help design, build, and deploy AI-powered software solving real-world problems. This is a highly hands-on role where you’ll gain exposure to the full product lifecycle — from understanding customer needs to shipping production-grade AI applications.

You’ll contribute directly to live projects used by governments, healthcare systems, and industrial partners, while learning how cutting-edge AI is turned into real, scalable products.

In This Role, You Will:

Build & Ship Real Products: Support the design and development of AI-powered features across front-end, back-end, and data workflows. Help prototype and ship internal tools and customer-facing applications using modern web technologies

Learn Product + Engineering in Practice: Work with product managers and engineers to translate customer problems into clear product requirements. Gain exposure to how AI models are integrated into real-world software systems

Collaborate Closely: Partner with engineers, researchers, and operators to test, iterate, and improve AI-driven workflows. Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and code reviews

Optimize & Improve: Assist with improving performance, reliability, and usability of deployed applications. Help analyze data, evaluate AI outputs, and iterate based on real customer feedback

Make a Real Impact: Contribute to projects modernizing government workflows, improving healthcare outcomes, or optimizing critical infrastructure. See your work deployed and used by real users — not just internal demos

You Will Thrive If You:

  • Are currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field.

  • Have experience with software development fundamentals (through coursework, internships, or personal projects).

  • Are familiar with or excited to learn technologies like Python, TypeScript, React, REST APIs, and cloud platforms

  • Are curious about AI systems, product thinking, and real-world applications of machine learning

  • Enjoy solving ambiguous problems and learning quickly in fast-paced environments

  • Communicate clearly, collaborate well, and take ownership of your work

  • Are excited to work directly on impactful problems rather than purely theoretical projects

What You’ll Gain
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI products used at global scale

  • Direct mentorship from experienced engineers, researchers, and ex-founders

  • Exposure to customer-facing product development in high-stakes environments

  • A fast-learning environment where your impact is visible and meaningful

Internship Details & Benefits

  • Competitive internship compensation

  • Hands-on mentorship from experienced AI engineers and researchers

  • Opportunity to work on real production systems used globally

  • Potential return-offer consideration for future internships or full-time roles

  • Daily lunches (if onsite)

Why Intern at Brain Co.

  • Work on AI systems that have real-world impact, not toy projects

  • Learn directly from engineers and leaders with backgrounds at Tesla, DeepMind, Databricks, and more

  • Build practical experience with state-of-the-art AI and LLMs

  • Take ownership early and grow fast in a high-impact environment

  • Be part of a culture built on speed, curiosity, and responsibility

If you’re a current sophomore or junior eager to apply AI to meaningful problems at global scale, Brain Co. is a place to learn, build, and make an impact.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
