About Matter Health
Matter Health delivers primary and preventive healthcare directly to older adults living in public housing communities.
Our mission is simple: to improve healthcare access by meeting patients where they are and building trusted relationships within the communities we serve. We are rapidly expanding and are seeking mission-driven professionals who thrive in fast-paced, people-centered environments.
We Lead with Love in Everything We Do.
About the Role
Matter Health is seeking a hands-on, mission-driven AI Automation Workflow Specialist to join our Information Technology team. This individual contributor role is responsible for building and deploying AI-assisted workflow automations that support our operations, clinical, care support, and field-based teams—helping them spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time on the patients and work that matter most.
Working directly with business and clinical stakeholders, you will identify day-to-day workflow opportunities, configure and deploy automations using Matter Health's established AI tools and platform, and support adoption across the organization. This is a building and operational role—not a platform architecture or people management position.
This role is ideal for someone who learns new AI tools quickly, enjoys partnering with non-technical teams to solve real problems, and is excited about applying emerging AI capabilities in service of a genuine mission. This position reports to the Chief Technology Officer. This is a fully remote role with up to 10% travel for occasional in-person meetings or team offsites.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with clinical, care support, operations, and field-based teams to understand day-to-day workflows, pain points, and opportunities for AI-driven automation
Gather requirements from stakeholders with varying levels of technical fluency and translate real operational problems into automation ideas that can be built and tested quickly
Collect structured and informal feedback from clinicians, care support agents, operations staff, and field-based teams to guide ongoing iteration of deployed automations
Submit identified opportunities into the team's intake process and collaborate with the AI Platform Engineer and requesting-team leadership to define priorities
Use approved AI tools, agent platforms, and automation software to configure, build, and deploy workflow automations and AI-assisted processes for operations, clinical, care support, and field-based teams
Write and refine prompts and configure workflow logic within existing platform tooling, templates, and standards to automate repetitive day-to-day tasks
Test and refine deployed automations with real users, iterating based on usage feedback and observed performance
Monitor day-to-day performance of deployed automations and escalate issues related to accuracy, reliability, or unexpected behavior to the AI Platform Engineer or Engineering team
Follow established platform standards, prompt and context templates, and controls when building and deploying automations—including those handling protected health information (PHI)
Create documentation, training materials, and enablement content to support successful adoption of new AI-driven workflows
Maintain a library of deployed automations, prompts, and workflow configurations to support consistency, reuse, and knowledge sharing across the organization
Support change management and adoption efforts as new automations are rolled out across operational teams
Partner with the AI Platform Engineer and stakeholders to evaluate when a deployed automation is ready to expand, refine, or retire
Qualifications
Required
Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience
1–3 years of experience in business operations, process improvement, workflow automation, or a related operational role
Hands-on experience using AI tools, chatbots, or no-code/low-code automation platforms to build or configure workflows
Strong ability to gather requirements from business and clinical stakeholders with varying levels of technical fluency
Comfortable working within established technical standards, prompt and context templates, and controls without needing to design underlying platform architecture
Experience documenting workflows and automation configurations clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences
Basic understanding of responsible AI practices and safe handling of sensitive data, including protected health information (PHI)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain new tools clearly to non-technical audiences
Preferred
Experience in the healthcare industry; familiarity with clinical operations, call center or care support workflows, or field-based care models is a plus
Experience with EMR systems, healthcare data, or clinical workflow tools
Familiarity with value-based care, Medicare, or Medicare Advantage environments
Experience supporting distributed, remote, or field-based teams
Background in change management, user training, or internal enablement
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth organization where priorities evolve
What Success Looks Like
Meaningful hours saved for operational, clinical, and field-based teams through deployed automations
Strong adoption of deployed automations by their target teams and users
A growing library of automations successfully built, deployed, and actively maintained in production
Efficient intake-to-launch cycle time from approved automation request to deployment
Collaborative, trusted relationships with clinical and operational stakeholders across the organization
Clear and accessible documentation that enables teams to understand and build on deployed workflows
Active contribution to a growing culture of AI-native thinking across the organization
