We are seeking a curious, tech-savvy AI Marketing Intern to help bridge the gap between marketing content and large language models (LLMs). This unique internship blends marketing, AI, and prompt engineering. You will work closely with our marketing, product, and innovation teams to prepare and format Extreme’s documentation, campaigns, and messaging so that it can effectively influence major generative AI platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, Google Gemini, and others.

Key Responsibilities
•            Audit and identify key content (e.g., product datasheets, white papers, competitive positioning, FAQs, web pages) to be converted into LLM training or prompt-ready formats.
•            Design and test prompt templates to deliver accurate, brand-aligned answers from GPT-based tools.
•            Feed relevant documentation into fine-tuning pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, or prompt libraries to align with brand voice and marketing objectives.
•            Conduct tests using AI chat interfaces to validate the effectiveness of prompts and suggest improvements.
•            Work with internal stakeholders (marketing, product, support) to prioritize which topics, products, or messages should be most emphasized within AI tools.
•            Help develop a system or playbook for maintaining and updating prompts/content across LLM platforms.
•            Track and report on outcomes—such as improved AI-generated answers about Extreme’s solutions.

Qualifications
•            Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
•            Passion for AI, LLMs, and how generative tools are reshaping marketing.
•            Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and brand voice.
•            Familiarity with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar LLMs.
•            Basic understanding of prompt engineering, LLM behavior, or NLP tools is a plus.
•            Ability to work independently and manage cross-functional input.

Bonus Points For
•            Experience using AI tools in content generation or research.
•            Exposure to Markdown, JSON, or structured data formats.
•            Understanding of enterprise networking or cloud technologies.

What You'll Gain
•            First-hand experience working on AI-integrated marketing strategies at a leading tech company.
•            Exposure to real-world prompt engineering and LLM alignment challenges.
•            A chance to build something new that could impact the future of B2B marketing and enterprise AI search.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
