The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Senior Data Scientist (AI Implementation Specialist) to join our GPD AI Implementation Team. This Level 7 role is pivotal in translating cutting-edge AI research into production-ready solutions that drive measurable impact across GM's product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and possess a strong blend of technical expertise, domain fluency, and stakeholder engagement skills.
What You'll Do
  • Production-Ready Delivery: Lead the deployment of scalable AI solutions from MVP to full production, ensuring robustness, performance, and maintainability.
  • Domain Pairing: Collaborate closely with automotive domain experts throughout the AI solution lifecycle-from ideation and design to validation and deployment-to ensure contextual relevance and operational feasibility.
  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all AI implementations adhere to GM's enterprise standards for data privacy, security, and ethical AI practices.
  • Adoption & Training: Drive user adoption through targeted training, documentation, and support. Act as a change agent to foster AI literacy and confidence across engineering teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with AI architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to align technical execution with strategic priorities.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in AI/ML deployment, software engineering, or systems integration
  • Proven ability to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions in complex environments
  • Strong understanding of MLOps, cloud infrastructure, and/or model lifecycle management

What will give you a competitive edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Familiarity with automotive product development workflows
  • Experience with physics-based modeling or CAE integration
  • Knowledge of GM's AI infrastructure and tooling ecosystem
  • Passion for ethical AI and responsible innovation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-disciplinary teams
