AI Governance & Risk Expert (m/f/d) - Regulatory AI Advisory for Financial Services

Advise financial institutions on AI governance and compliance with EU AI Act and GDPR. Conduct model lifecycle risk assessments, design governance and compliance-by-design frameworks, support validation, documentation and audit readiness, and advise senior stakeholders on AI risk mitigation.
Your Mission
As an AI Governance & Risk Expert, you will support leading banking and financial services institutions in implementing trustworthy, compliant and responsible AI systems.
You will operate at the intersection of regulation, technology and risk management, ensuring that AI initiatives meet regulatory, ethical, security and operational standards - particularly within the evolving European regulatory landscape (e.g. EU AI Act, GDPR).
Role Description
- Conduct AI risk assessments across model lifecycle stages (development, validation, deployment, monitoring)
- Ensure compliance with EU AI Act, GDPR and relevant financial services regulations
- Design and implement compliance-by-design and governance-by-design frameworks
- Provide guidance on explainability, transparency, fairness, robustness and safety of AI systems
- Support AI risk profiling, control design and documentation standards
- Develop AI governance policies, model documentation and audit-ready frameworks
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Data Protection and IT Security teams
- Advise senior stakeholders on AI risk exposure and mitigation strategies
Skills and Expertise
- 5+ years of professional experience in AI risk, governance, model risk management or regulatory compliance
- Experience in regulated banking and financial services industries
- Strong understanding of AI governance frameworks and emerging regulatory requirements
- Ability to translate regulatory obligations into operational and technical controls
- Familiarity with AI assurance, model validation and audit processes
- Structured, analytical and solution-oriented working style
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Fluent German and English
