The Application Engineer for AI & Automation Solutions develops modern AI-based automation components supporting enterprise workflows, business units, and enterprise AI products owned by the AI/Automation Hub. This role builds solutions in M365 Copilot Studio, Power Platform, and the Azure ecosystem, integrating enterprise datasets and implementing AI-assisted process automation.
The engineer collaborates with TPMs, architects, and business partners to design, build, test, and deploy compliant, scalable, and secure AI-enabled automations within an Agile SDLC.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Build and configure AI-driven automation solutions using Copilot Studio, declarative agents, Power Automate, Power Apps, Azure Functions, and supporting Azure services.
- Construct and maintain context layers, vector stores, and data pipelines required to ground AI experiences on enterprise data sources.
- Develop automations that enhance workflow efficiency, decision support, and employee experience.
- Contribute to Agile ceremonies, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and product increments.
- Write technical documentation, requirements, tests, and deployment artifacts.
- Apply DevOps principles, source control, and CI/CD practices for automation solutions.
- Ensure development follows enterprise compliance, responsible AI, security, and data governance frameworks.
- Conduct impact assessments, risk evaluations, and readiness checks for AI automations.
- Partner with TPMs to translate business needs into technical designs and solution patterns.
- Provide technical support, enhancements, and troubleshooting for automations in production.
- Support user onboarding into prompt engineering and best practices in AI solution consumption.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Typically 3–10 years of application engineering, automation engineering, or software development experience.
Technical Skills
- Experience with AI services, LLM prompting, and integration of enterprise data with AI solutions.
- Strong development skills across Azure services, Power Platform components, APIs, and workflow automation.
- Understanding of application architecture, data repositories, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Familiarity with workflow analysis, process optimization, and automation patterns.
- Insurance domain knowledge preferred.
Professional Skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability.
- Ability to work in Agile teams and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Strong communication skills for technical and business audiences.
