Position Overview

We’re hiring an AI Forward Deployment Analyst to study how AI models are actually deployed in production and how those deployment choices shape real-world economics. This role sits at the intersection of model architecture, inference infrastructure, and applied workloads across hyperscalers, enterprises, and startups.

You will focus on how AI systems are operationalized—latency constraints, throughput targets, cost ceilings, reliability requirements—and how these real deployment decisions influence the effective cost of AI tokens and the economic viability of AI-driven products. Your work will directly inform SemiAnalysis’s AI Tokenomics and AI Economics frameworks used by investors, corporate strategists, and policymakers.

This is a full-time role based in the United States.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze real-world AI deployment patterns across hyperscalers, enterprises, and emerging AI-native startups.

  • Evaluate inference-time tradeoffs across hardware platforms, model architectures, batching strategies, and serving frameworks.

  • Model the economic impact of latency, throughput, availability, and scaling constraints on AI product margins.

  • Diligence AI companies deploying models in production, with a focus on cost structure, infrastructure choices, and unit economics.

  • Translate deployment-level technical decisions into investment-grade economic insights.

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in ML/AI, CS, or systems engineering (formal or self-taught).

  • Strong understanding of AI inference systems and production constraints.

  • Analytical mindset with interest in AI economics and real-world deployment.

  • Comfortable bridging technical depth with economic reasoning.

  • Full-time role based in the United States.

Why SemiAnalysis?

At SemiAnalysis, you’re placed directly inside the most important conversations shaping the future of AI and semiconductors. You’ll develop a first-principles understanding of the technical and economic dynamics behind the world’s most consequential technology, with rare end-to-end visibility across the entire stack—from silicon and systems to models, software, and real-world deployment. Our work is read and relied upon by the people allocating capital, building infrastructure, and setting strategy across the industry, giving your research and analysis real, measurable impact.

The environment is built for learning and autonomy. You’ll have the freedom to chase interesting ideas, dig into emerging trends early, and continuously expand your technical and economic toolkit, supported by generous PTO, office stipends, competitive healthcare (medical, dental, vision), and support for conferences and ongoing learning.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
