The Role

If you are energized by building learning products that help organizations grow, adapt, and prove real business impact, this role offers the chance to shape two of Pearson's enterprise learning offerings at an important point in their evolution. As Portfolio Manager for Knowledge Suite and Pearson Live Training, you will help position these products at the center of enterprise transformation, with a core focus on career success, technology skilling, and AI-enabled transformation. You will be the commercial owner of these offerings within the wider Enterprise Content and Training portfolio, shaping why they win in market, which learning experiences are prioritized, developed, and brought to market, and how pricing, P&L, and go-to-market decisions support sustainable growth.

You will partner closely with Pearson's marketing, sales, and solutioning teams, so these offerings show up clearly and compellingly for enterprise partners and clients. You will connect market needs to what Pearson builds and sells, working with the Team Lead, Portfolio Management, and ECT leadership, to set overall direction and make final decisions on strategy, investment, and pricing.

In your first six months, you will build a grounded view of enterprise transformation, career mobility, technology skilling, and AI-enabled transformation, then translate that insight into a clear point of view and portfolio roadmap for leadership review and business alignment.

What You'll Own

  • The day-to-day commercial performance of Knowledge Suite and Pearson Live Training, including accountability for their P&L: revenue, margin, forecasting, and budget management, within ECT's overall plan
  • Commercial strategy recommendations for both offerings, including the positioning and differentiation that explain why each wins against its competitors
  • Pricing and packaging proposals, developed with finance and sales and aligned with ECT leadership
  • Go-to-market execution: segmentation, buyer personas, launch plans, sales enablement, and partner and client positioning
  • The learning roadmap for both environments, including the evidence-based case for which learning experiences are prioritized, developed, and brought to market
  • Cross-functional coordination, so offerings launch on time, on budget, and to a quality bar that enterprise clients trust

What You'll Do

Discovery and strategy

  • Build current insight into enterprise transformation, career success, technology skilling, and AI-enabled transformation, using research and customer discovery to identify high-value opportunities
  • Analyze competitors and adjacent offerings to sharpen differentiation and strengthen Pearson's market position
  • Develop and propose the vision and strategy for both offerings, including how AI can strengthen learning outcomes, customer value, and market differentiation, then help sales, delivery, and partner teams understand the agreed direction
  • Define what effective learning should look like for employees, helping learners and organizations understand what great performance looks like in their roles

Roadmap and portfolio

  • Build and maintain the portfolio roadmap, balancing client demand, commercial return, learning quality, and delivery capacity while recommending priorities for leadership review
  • Define requirements and success metrics, and work with Evidence & Design, including learning designers and psychometricians, to ensure the offerings are evidence-based and delivering measurable value for customers and learners
  • Partner with product management and technical teams to align the platform product roadmap with portfolio priorities, learner experience needs, and enterprise customer requirements
  • Use outcomes data and learner performance to improve the portfolio and recommend when to invest, evolve, or retire learning
  • Apply AI tools in your own portfolio work, such as prototyping, hypothesis testing, and synthesizing customer and market data, while identifying where AI can responsibly enhance enterprise learning experiences

Commercial and go-to-market

  • Develop pricing, packaging, and business cases that are commercially sound and ready for finance and executive review
  • Partner with marketing to develop positioning, messaging, and campaigns that land with HR, L&D, and business leaders
  • Equip sales and solutioning teams with pitch narratives, demos, ROI stories, value messages, and client-ready materials, supporting key client conversations alongside senior colleagues
  • Gather feedback from enterprise clients and field teams, then turn it into actionable input for strategy and roadmap decisions

Collaboration

  • Coordinate across ELS functions, including sales, solutioning, marketing, delivery, finance, technology, and operations, to build trust and support clear decision-making in a matrixed environment
  • Contribute the perspective of these two offerings to ECT planning cycles, portfolio reviews, and leadership forums

About You

You are a commercially minded portfolio professional who is comfortable connecting market insight, financial performance, and learning quality. You bring:

  • 4+ years of experience in product management, portfolio management, or a related commercial role, ideally in enterprise learning, L&D, HR technology, or B2B learning and subscription offerings
  • Experience contributing to or managing revenue, pricing, or P&L outcomes, and supporting an offering from insight through launch to growth
  • Strong data fluency, with the ability to use evidence to make clear portfolio and investment recommendations
  • Experience running customer discovery and translating findings into strategy, roadmap, and go-to-market decisions
  • Proven ability to work with enterprise sales teams and influence across functions without direct authority
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the confidence to engage senior enterprise buyers

Knowledge of enterprise change management, career mobility, technology skilling, AI-enabled transformation, or workforce development

  • Experience with learning design, assessment, or competency frameworks
  • Experience with live or cohort-based and digital learning delivery
  • Fluency using AI tools to accelerate portfolio work, plus curiosity about how AI is transforming enterprise learning, skills development, and career success

You are someone who:

  • Puts customers and learners at the center of decisions
  • Thinks strategically and stays practical about execution
  • Takes ownership of results and moves quickly when direction is clear
  • Brings a point of view, and is open to challenge and collaboration on the way to a decision
  • Builds trust with sellers, designers, and executives alike

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
