Accompany Health is on a mission to give patients with complex needs the dignified, high-quality care they deserve but rarely receive. A primary, behavioral, and social care provider, Accompany Health walks alongside patients for their entire care journey, offering at-home and virtual care, as well as 24/7 support. Partnering with innovative payors, Accompany Health is powered by remarkable care teams, elegant technology, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

We build long-term relationships with our patients so they know, without question, that our team is here for them day or night, year after year. We focus on the health outcomes most important to our patients to make it clear that they lead the way.

To achieve our mission, we collaborate with community-based organizations, local providers, and health plans. Led by our empathetic care teams, guided by proven care models, and powered by our own technology, we deliver a level of service that our communities rightfully deserve but rarely receive.

While our headquarters is in Bethesda, MD, our teams are distributed across the country.  If you’re eager to make a tangible difference in people’s lives, to help correct long-standing disparities in health care, join us.

About the role:

As an Actuarial Manager, Medical Economics, you will report directly to the Chief Actuary and play a key role in shaping how Accompany Health designs, measures, and optimizes its care model. This is a hybrid role at the intersection of actuarial science, health economics, and clinical operations strategy — applying quantitative rigor to understand how our care delivery model creates value and improves patient outcomes.

You will partner closely with Clinical, Operations, and Finance leadership to design new programs, forecast their expected impact, and evaluate actual performance against expectations. Your work will help quantify how clinical and operational decisions influence medical costs, risk adjustment revenue, and patient outcomes — providing the analytic foundation for strategic decisions across the organization.

This position is ideal for an actuary who wants to go beyond trend measurement and reserves — someone eager to help design and evaluate interventions that improve health outcomes and lower costs while building the analytic frameworks that define the next generation of accountable care.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • ASA or near-ASA
  • 5+ years of actuarial, healthcare analytics, or related professional experience
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, with proficiency in Excel and exposure to SQL, Python, R, or similar tools
  • Ability to work with large healthcare datasets and synthesize findings into actionable insights
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred
  • Experience working with government healthcare programs, such as Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid
  • Prior experience in Value-Based Care
  • Prior experience with analytic and modeling tools and software (SAS, SQL, Python, R, etc)

What makes you a fit for the team:

  • You want to take your actuarial career to the next level by tackling some of healthcare’s toughest problems
  • You thrive in a startup environment, comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities
  • You excel at aligning diverse, cross-functional stakeholders - both technical and non-technical - around data-driven insights

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
