The Actuarial Analyst will work under the guidance of an Actuarial Regional Manager to maintain and enhance medical margin models for assigned markets. These models support monthly financial close processes, budget development, and quarterly forecasts.
The analyst will play a key role in reviewing Medicare Advantage financial results, with a focus on understanding the drivers of value-based incentive performance and their impact on profitability. Responsibilities include identifying the sources of prior period development, analyzing emerging trends, preparing audit documentation, and supporting ad hoc requests from Market Finance and Business Development.

Essential Job Functions:
For assigned market:
- Update medical margin models to support the monthly close process
- Research and identify drivers of prior period development for revenue and claims
- Enhance and maintain medical economics tools and dashboards to deliver insights into trend drivers and improve decision-making
- Prepare materials to present close results to Market Finance leadership, ensuring clarity and strategic relevance
- Calculate final cash settlements for payer contracts with precision and timeliness
- Prepare and organize documentation for internal and external audits
- Inform key assumptions for annual budget based on actuarial analysis and market trends
- Perform targeted analyses to support requests from Market Finance team
- Support Business Development and Payer Contracting teams by providing actuarial input on financial assumptions

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Experience
- 1-4 years of relevant actuarial experience in insurance, consulting, or managed care
- Experience with Medicare Advantage products preferred
Education/Licensure:
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics, or related field
- 2+ actuarial exams passed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with actuarial techniques for analysis and modeling of healthcare financials
- Skilled in interpreting and manipulating large datasets, especially medical claims
- Familiar with basic principles of IBNR reserve development, forecasting, and pricing
- Strong understanding of health insurance, particularly Medicare Advantage
- Demonstrates ownership of deliverables and leadership in cross-functional initiatives
- Thrives in fast-paced environments with a focus on business partner satisfaction
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to improve processes without prompting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Excel and SQL
