Acquisition Contracting Specialist

KBR is seeking experienced Acquisition Contracting Specialists. Successful candidates will have a deep understanding of how DoD, Federal, and Air Force acquisition processes and lifecycles are executed and experience with developing acquisition strategies for Space Systems Command (SSC) in El Segundo, CA. The primary focus for this role will be to provide indispensable support to the Government on the Hemisphere contract. The candidates will play a pivotal role in supporting the Government by assisting in conducting source selections, advising, plus assisting on management of existing IDIQ contracts and execution of acquisition strategies for any follow-on efforts.  The successful candidates will also provide contract and subcontract management support by assisting Government Contracting Officers and contract specialists. The individuals will serve as key assets in driving the execution success of Hemisphere, leveraging expertise to navigate complex acquisition contracting processes and facilitate the achievement of programmatic goals.

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

  • 3-10 years of proven practical expertise and relevant DoD, Air Force, and SSC work experience in contracts and subcontracts throughout entire acquisition lifecycle and processes
  • Highly skilled in the navigation of contracting actions such as but not limited to change proposals, solicitations, funding modifications, and award/incentive fee management
  • Deep understanding and experienced in managing event-based processing of contractual documentation throughout phases, milestones, and reviews for mission programs
  • Demonstrated ability for autonomous work, seamlessly working with team members and senior leadership with minimal supervision
  • Exhibits strong critical thinking abilities and problem-solving acumen
  • Employs proactive measures to mitigate problems, tasks, and challenges
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, coupled with proven leadership capabilities that foster effective team collaboration
  • Provides comprehensive support to Government Contracting Officers and Contract Specialists in executing any and all contract actions upon request and agreement with Hemisphere leadership team
  • Serves as an active contributor to government contract requests for proposals, technical evaluations, negotiations, administration, and executing--leveraging expertise to facilitate informed decision-making
  • Provides contracts guidance and determinations; guides all levels of management on contractual rights and obligations, risk avoidance and mitigation, strategy, and problem solving 
  • Exercises sound judgment in interpreting contract terms and providing guidance to the business team to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Ensures timely review and communication of contract modifications and pertinent notices to the business team, fostering transparency and clarity
  • Supports efforts to obtain requisite approvals prior to contract submission, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational protocols
  • Demonstrates awareness of U.S. Space Force organizations, understanding applicable organization roles and objectives in alignment with various customers and stakeholders' needs and mission objectives

Education / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical field (business administration, project management) with 3-10 years of experience as a contracting officer supporting Federal, DoD, Air Force, or SSC acquisition program

Desired

  • Master’s degree in related technical field (business administration, project management) with 3-10 years of experience as a contracting officer supporting Federal, DoD, Air Force, or SSC acquisition programs
  • Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C) certification
  • Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) certification

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Active TS SCI

Target salary range for El Segundo

$150,000……………$165,000

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
