Support the controller with accounts payable/receivable, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, lease and property CAM setups in Yardi, 1099 preparation, journal entries, tenant deposits, and auditing move-outs while meeting deadlines and assisting asset managers.
The Staff Accountant will directly support the company controller in all aspects of accounting on behalf of the firm.
Responsibilities include:
• Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, setting up leases in the system (Yardi), monthly bank reconciliations, annual budgets and property CAM reconciliations.
• Prepare annual 1099’s for vendors and owners.
• Ensure all Balance Sheet items are reconciled and prepare journal entries/corrections for any variances.
• Process Accounts Payable, including verifying, auditing, and checking that appropriate approvals are documented on the invoice. Resolving any discrepancies noted on invoices.
• Prepare Accounts Payable checks for signature.
• Process deposits from tenants whether it be electronic payments or checks/money orders.
• Set up & scan new leases in the Property Management software.
• Set up & scan new Property Management Agreements in the Property Management software.
• Prepare and audit Move-outs back to the original lease agreement ensuring any invoices pertaining to the move-out are accounted for.
• Ability to solve problems and work independently.
• Extremely organized with ability to hit periodic deadlines.
• Assist the Asset Managers and Controller as needed.
Requirements
• 2-3+ years of experience in accounting or real estate accounting, preferably in healthcare real estate or private equity. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Yardi software is required.
• Bachelor’s degree from four‐year university – minimum 3.5 GPA
