Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for balancing the daily totals of the Credit Union as well as maintaining accurate records and producing timely financial reports.

Essential Functions

  1. Compile daily reports.
  2. Daily Institution Balancing Processor.
  3. Organize and reconcile daily work to institution totals. Import and post daily journal vouchers.  
  4. Operate PC to access the credit union’s accounting system and member account information.
  5. Research discrepancies and work with branch and department staff to resolve items.
  6. Process daily incoming and outgoing wires.
  7. Prepare Branch and ATM cash orders.
  8. Reconcile daily bank check exceptions and deposits. 
  9. TGA reporting and vouchers.
  10. Operate PC, printer, ten-key; fax machine, copier, and telephone.
  11. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities

  1. PC skills and ability to use spreadsheets and tables.
  2. Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  3. Typing and ten-key skills required.
  4. Problem solving abilities.
  5. Investigative skills with deductive reasoning.
  6. Mathematics aptitude.
  7. Ability to perform repetitive daily routine.
  8. Type proficiently.
  9. Must have ability to work effectively with others.
  10. Ability to effectively communicate accounting procedures.
  11. Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.  
  12. Must, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.

Education and Experience

  1. One-year certification from college or technical school or 6 months-1-year related experience and/or training in accounting or related field.
  2. Basic knowledge of general ledger accounting system

Work Environment

  1. General office environment: works generally at a desk in a well-lighted, air-conditioned cubicle/office, with moderate noise levels.

  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer – 7 to 8 hours per day.

Work Location
This is an on-site position at our Corporate Headquarters in Yuba City, CA

Compensation Range

The company anticipates offering  an hourly range between $22.74 and $25.60 for this position at the time of hire. This range includes base salary (or hourly wages) and does not include possible overtime for non-exempt employees or any applicable performance-based incentives or commissions.

Annual Merit Increase

Employees are eligible for a discretionary yearly merit-based salary adjustment, based on individual performance and company results.
