About VSCO

For years, we've helped photographers create their work. Now we're building what comes next.

VSCO exists for photographers. Not as a side feature, not as an afterthought, but as the whole point. We build the connected system photographers rely on, and we've spent over a decade earning the trust of a global creative community that takes the craft seriously.

Photography is at an inflection point. AI is reshaping what's possible for creative work, and that's where our mission shines. VSCO is building the full photographer's workflow: from creating and editing your work, to delivering it to clients, to running your business. All of it built thoughtfully, with photographers leading the way. We believe the future of photography tools creates more space for creativity, handling the busy work so photographers can focus on the craft.

If you care about craft, community, and what technology can unlock for creative people, this is the work. We're a mission-driven and focused company where your work ships quickly, is meaningful, and reaches tens of millions of people worldwide. You'll have a real say in what we build and how we build it. We hire people who don't wait to be asked, naturally connect the dots, care about the quality of what they ship, and believe the best outcomes come from building together.

About The Role

We’re hiring an Accounting Manager who owns the close and builds the system behind it.

This is a high-ownership, systems-focused role for someone who:

  • Runs a clean, predictable close
  • Sees inefficiencies and eliminates them
  • Builds scalable processes that reduce manual work
  • Operates independently and improves everything they touch

You won’t just maintain accounting operations—you’ll modernize them.

We are in the middle of an ERP buildout (Campfire) and actively working toward a faster, more automated close (goal: sub-3 day, long-term 1-day close). This role will be central to that transformation.

This is a strong fit for someone who wants to:

  • Move beyond “doing the close” → designing the close
  • Own systems, not just outputs
  • Be a force multiplier in a lean environment

This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office — currently three days per week, with the expectation that in-office time may evolve.

The Day to Day

Close Ownership & Accounting Integrity
  • Own the month-end close end-to-end (sequencing, execution, timelines)
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity across all accounts
  • Review and prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact close
Systems & Process Design
  • Play a key role in ERP implementation and ongoing optimization (Campfire)
  • Build scalable workflows and documentation
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities across accounting processes
  • Partner with leadership on close acceleration initiatives
Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Serve as a go-to accounting partner across the business
  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Ops on accounting and systems questions
  • Support revenue recognition processes and automation efforts
  • Oversee AP operations and vendor management — review and approval, with transactional execution handled by support staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Demonstrated ownership of or significant responsibility for month-end close
  • Experience with or exposure to ERP implementations
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP
  • Systems-minded—you think in workflows, not tasks
  • Comfortable in a lean, high-autonomy environment
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and bias toward fixing root causes

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA
  • Big 4 or public accounting background
  • SaaS / tech company experience
  • Exposure to ASC 606
  • Experience improving close timelines or automation

Job Perks

  • Hybrid work with an office in San Francisco, CA
  • Regular in-person events events to connect and collaborate
  • Competitive salary & equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and families
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Company-paid parental, medical and caregiver leave
  • Other perks including mental health resources and tech reimbursements

Compensation

The base salary for this position will vary based on several factors, such as relevant experience, location and your approved internal leveling assessed during the interview process. The base salary range for this role is $165,000 - $185,000. Salary is one component of our total compensation package. This position also qualifies for equity (i.e. stock options) and is eligible for discretionary bonuses based on performance.

The benefits available for this position include flexible time off, a 401K retirement plan, insurance (medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D, short and long term disability), and 11 paid holidays. We also provide paid sick time as required by state and local law. Additional benefits and perks contained in our standard employee benefits package are also offered for this position.

Please note

The application window for this role will be open until at least 7/6/2026. This opportunity will remain online based on business needs which may be before or after the specified date.

As part of our hiring process, we conduct pre-employment background checks in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of this background check, which includes state and federal criminal records checks, sex offender registry searches, and other relevant checks as permitted by law.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
