About The Role
We are looking for a sharp, self-directed Accounting Manager to join our Finance & Accounting team on a full-time, permanent basis. In this role, you will own the day-to-day accounting function end-to-end — from close sequencing and balance sheet integrity to process improvement and systems optimization. You will operate with a high degree of independence, and will be a critical force multiplier for a lean, automation-first accounting team.
This is not a role for someone who needs direction on what to do next. It's a role for someone who sees what needs to happen, makes it happen, and makes it better along the way.
This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office — currently three days per week, with the expectation that in-office time may evolve.
The Day to Day
- Own and manage the monthly close process end-to-end, including sequencing, prioritization, and on-time delivery
- Leverage AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency, accelerate close activities, and reduce manual effort — staying current on emerging tools relevant to accounting and finance
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting workpapers across all balance sheet accounts
- Maintain balance sheet integrity — proactively identify and resolve discrepancies before they become close issues
- Own prepaid expense schedules, fixed asset register, accruals, and other recurring close activities
- Oversee accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor management, payment runs, and coding accuracy
- Manage cash recording and reconciliation across operating and ancillary accounts.
- Partner on revenue recognition processes and support automation
- Drive process documentation — identify gaps, build repeatable workflows, and leave things better than you found them
- Support systems implementation work, including ongoing ERP buildout and optimization
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce close cycle time
- Serve as a key internal resource for finance and cross-functional partners on accounting questions and vendor matter
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities and drive work forward without significant oversight
- Experience with ERP systems; experience supporting or leading an ERP implementation required
- Proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets, with comfort working in data-driven workflows
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — comfortable working cross-functionally with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- High attention to detail with a preventative, not reactive, approach to accounting operations
- Comfort operating in a lean, fast-moving environment where ambiguity is normal and resourcefulness is essential
Nice-to-haves
- CPA
- Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience
- Experience in a SaaS or technology company environment
- Familiarity with Bill.com, Expensify, or Stripe, or other similar AP and expense tools
- Exposure to revenue recognition under ASC 606
- Familiarity with close acceleration methodologies or experience driving a sub-3-day close
