Overview

VIOLET ST HOLDINGS, LLC is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This role will own key areas of the close process, inventory and cost accounting, and financial reporting across our consumer goods business.

VIOLET ST is an independent footwear and apparel company founded by Luke Wood and Charles Mangan. The brand partners with creatives and brands across design, music, culture, and sports – enabling them to build and own their own lines at scale.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in DTC, retail, and wholesale (B2B) environments and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving organization. Experience in fashion/apparel or similar product-driven industries is a strong plus.

This role reports to the Controller and partners cross-functionally with operations, sales, and supply chain to drive accurate financials, improve processes, and support scalable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, including standard costing, landed cost allocation, and COGS accuracy
  • Monitor inventory balances, reserves (excess/obsolete), and gross margin trends
  • Partner with operations, sourcing, and logistics to ensure accurate product costing and margin analysis
  • Manage revenue accounting across DTC (eCommerce), retail, and wholesale channels ensuring GAAP compliance
  • Oversee accounts receivable and collections for wholesale and distributor accounts, including monitoring aging, resolving discrepancies, and driving timely cash collections
  • Reconcile key accounts including inventory, COGS, revenue, AR adjustments, and accruals
  • Support sales tax compliance and filings across multiple channels
  • Act as finance lead for inventory counts and cycle counts, including variance investigation
  • Establish and maintain internal controls over inventory, revenue, and close processes
  • Support audit requests and ensure proper documentation and compliance
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within a partially manual environment
  • Assist with system enhancements and ERP optimization (NetSuite or similar)
  • Provide ad hoc analysis to support business decisions and leadership reporting
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to inventory and cost accounting
  • Experience in consumer goods, retail, or CPG environment required
  • Strong understanding of DTC, wholesale (B2B), and retail accounting flows
  • Experience with Shopify, Amazon, or other eCommerce platforms a plus
  • ERP experience required (NetSuite preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP, especially revenue recognition and inventory valuation
  • Experience managing multiple entities and intercompany transactions is a plus
  • Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into business insights
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities
