Overview
A growing logistics organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to play a key role in building and leading its accounting function. This position will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, drive system implementation, and develop processes to support continued expansion. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and motivated by the opportunity to create scalable systems and procedures from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of a new accounting system (NetSuite) and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Serve as a key liaison between accounting, finance, and executive leadership.
- Perform all aspects of month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Process and account for cash receipts and disbursements.
- Conduct cost analyses and variance reviews, investigating and reporting irregularities to management.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Prepare and file state and local tax returns; support audits and respond to tax inquiries as needed.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies or unusual items.
- Support the annual external audit by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Stay current on regulatory requirements and accounting best practices.
- Participate in ad hoc projects, financial analyses, and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at the Accounting Manager level.
- Public accounting experience required.
- Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software required; prior system implementation experience strongly preferred.
- CPA certification highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Highly motivated with a “can-do” attitude and commitment to continuous improvement.
Salary: up to $145,000
