POSITION PURPOSE
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the General Ledger (GL) Team and completion of the month and year end close and annual external audit processes ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and timely completion of account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP. This role will also provide accurate and timely recognition and reporting of all aspects of revenue.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coach, and provide management support and guidance to GL Team on deliverables and accounting strategies.
Measure and regularly monitor performance and capacity of GL Team to support individual and team achievement of goals.
Oversee the daily activities of the GL Team and ensure all major projects, month
and year-end journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial statement variance explanations and reports are completed accurately and on time.
Obtain detailed knowledge and understanding of all general ledger accounts, financial statements, processes, policies and team responsibilities.
Responsible for the accurate and timely recognition of all aspects of revenue accounting in accordance with ASC606, company polices and current US GAAP.
Preparation of general ledger account reconciliations pertaining to deferred revenue and
member products.
Calculate and maintain the lifetime dues annual pricing schedule.
Present financial statements, KPI’s, and variance explanations each month to people leader and Head of Finance.
Coordinate the monthly and yearly financial close schedule for the GL Team and department.
Create and streamline processes, policies, and procedures to improve GL data accuracy and team efficiency.
In partnership with auditors and people leader, lead accounting staff to complete the annual external financial audit.
Assist people leader with supporting and evaluating financial systems as needed.
Partner with various departments and management team members throughout the organization to resolve issues and answer questions related to financial statements and financial processes.
Assist and support Controller and Head of Finance on additional duties and projects as assigned.
Partner with people leader on the impact of accounting pronouncement changes.

EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND
8+ years of progressive financial/accounting experience with a minimum of 3-5 years of people manager experience.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office software (particularly Excel).
Not for profit experience preferred.
Salesforce and Financial Force experience preferred.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with heavy accounting experience.
CPA Certification and/or MBA - Accounting preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work flexible and/or extended hours as needed to accommodate members and team members in multiple time zones.
Willingness and ability to travel, domestically and internationally, without restrictions, approximately 5% per year
