Position Summary
The Accounting Manager – Client Advisory Services (CAS) is responsible for leading complex accounting engagements while serving as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients. This role combines technical accounting expertise, client relationship management, and team leadership to ensure the delivery of accurate financial reporting and exceptional client service. The Accounting Manager also mentors staff, oversees workflow, and contributes to the firm's continued growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, providing responsive, professional, and solution-oriented service.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while proactively managing expectations and identifying business needs.
- Lead client meetings and confidently present financial information and accounting recommendations.
- Review general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Review financial statements and workpapers to ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards.
- Oversee multiple accounting engagements, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Research and resolve complex accounting issues while providing technical guidance to team members.
- Stay current with accounting standards, regulatory updates, and emerging accounting technologies.
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop staff and senior accountants.
- Lead workflow planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet client deadlines.
- Ensure adherence to firm processes, quality standards, and engagement procedures.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide regular feedback, and support employee development initiatives.
- Participate in internal training programs and contribute to the development of training materials.
- Assist with client onboarding, proposal preparation, engagement planning, and scope development.
- Manage client billing, accounts receivable, and engagement profitability.
- Support business development initiatives by identifying opportunities to expand services with existing clients.
- Participate in management meetings and firm committees as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA license preferred; EA designation or equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a public accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting professionals.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours during peak periods.
