The Accounting Manger plays a crucial role in supporting and oversees the accounting aspects of our non-profit education organization. The Accounting Manager supports accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and contributes to the overall sustainability of our mission. 

Key Responsibilities:

1.            Financial Management:

•             Manage all day-to-day accounting activities, including budget variance analysis.

•             Oversee the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy and compliance with non-profit financial regulations.

2.            Financial Reporting:

•             Manage timely month-end close.

•             Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

3.            Budget Management:

•             Monitor budget vs. actual performance and provide recommendations for adjustments.

4.            Grants and Funding:

•             Assist in grant applications and reporting to secure funding for child development and trade tech programs.

•             Ensure compliance with grant requirements and financial reporting.

•             Prepare Quarterly State reports for State Funding

5.            Audit and Compliance:

•             Support annual audits with external auditors and ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax obligations.

•             Adhere to and maintain internal controls and financial policies.

6.            Financial Strategy:

•             Contribute to the development of financial strategies and goals to support the organization's mission and long-term sustainability.

7.            Team Leadership:

•             Supervise and provide leadership to the accounting and finance team.

•             Foster a collaborative and professional work environment.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree or CPA is preferred.
  • Proven experience in non-profit financial management, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior financial role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting and compliance standards.
  • Experience with the California Preschool Accounting Reporting Information system (CPARIS)
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers and other employees of the organization.
  • Experience with child enrollment reporting requirements tied to state funding.
  • Excellent financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
