Our Company

Strand Marketing is a boutique digital marketing consultancy focusing on strategic client services, and performance-based media buying. In the five years since our founding, we have achieved incredible success, including being named back-to-back winners on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies. We work with large multi-million dollar brands, and up-and-coming start-up companies. Our expertise in media strategy, marketing operations, and the consumer journey has positioned us uniquely to provide significant growth and value to our clients. We are continuing to grow at a rapid pace and are seeking a Project Manager to help support our diverse and exciting client roster.

Role Summary

Strand is seeking a senior, outcome-driven Account Operations Manager (AOM) to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives for enterprise clients. This is not a traditional task-tracking PM role.

At Strand, Account Operations Manager is a leadership function. Our AOMs own projects end-to-end — from scope definition through execution and outcomes — and act as the single operational leader responsible for clarity, momentum, and problem-solving across teams.

You will not own client strategy or account growth — but you must deeply understand the client’s goals and strategy in order to effectively drive projects toward successful outcomes. You will operate as a single point of operational ownership, ensuring speed, consistency, and confidence for both clients and internal teams.

The right candidate will:

  • Thinks in systems, not tasks
  • Sees problems before they surface
  • Is comfortable operating across technical, data, media, and creative domains
  • Can synthesize complexity into clear plans and communication
  • Wants to elevate what “project management” means

Responsibilities:

  • Own project scope, plans, timelines, dependencies, risks, and execution from kickoff through outcome
  • Translate client strategy into executable project plans (without owning strategy creation)
  • Build and maintain project plans, Gantt timelines, dependency maps, data flow diagrams, technical overviews, and trackers
  • Oversee communication across all internal and external teams
  • Lead conversations through asking hard questions, resolving ambiguity, and synthesizing answers
  • Anticipate risks and issues before they become blockers and stepping into adjacent domains when necessary
  • Deliver proactive updates to internal teams and clients without being prompted

Qualifications & Experience

  • 7–10+ years of experience in project management, program management, or delivery leadership
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional, and technical projects
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments
  • Strong written communication skills (this is non-negotiable)
  • Comfort working with data, technical concepts, and systems (you don’t need to be an engineer, but you need fluency)
  • Experience creating planning and alignment artifacts beyond basic project trackers
  • Background in digital, media, technology, marketing, or consulting environments strongly preferred

What Success Looks Like

  • Projects feel calm, structured, and under control, even when complex
  • Teams know exactly what to do and when
  • Clients feel confident because there is always a clear plan and owner
  • Risks are addressed early, not reactively
  • Execution consistently ladders up to the intended outcome

Hybrid:

  • This role is required to be in person at our beautiful, fully stocked Hermosa Beach location Tuesday-Thursday each week. This is a meeting heavy role, the right candidate will be extremely comfortable being in meetings for the majority of their day.

Your Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay
  • 401K with 4% company match
  • Comprehensive medical, dental & vision package
  • WFH Mondays and WFH + Half Day Fridays all year
  • Monthly cell phone and lifestyle reimbursement
  • Monthly happy hours, team building events, and volunteer opportunities
  • Fun, energizing and fast-paced work environment

Pay: $115,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
