Position Summary

The Account Manager – Local Media will be responsible for selling the AccuWeather Augmented Reality System, a groundbreaking hardware/software/data solution developed in partnership with Brainstorm. This innovative system delivers immersive, high-impact augmented reality presentations tailored for local media, including broadcast, digital, and content production environments.

Whether used as a stand-alone system or as a complement to an existing weather system, the AccuWeather Augmented Reality System enables presenters to visually “step inside” the weather using real-time 3D graphics, virtual sets, and powerful storytelling tools. A small green screen can now transform into a dynamic, network-quality broadcast studio—without the need for expensive set upgrades.

More than just weather graphics, this system immerses talent in high-resolution, animated environments—from how hurricanes form to visualizing severe storms and travel impacts. It enhances weather and news storytelling, simplifies complex topics, and delivers the modern, motion-rich presentations viewers want—boosting engagement, retention, and ratings.

At the core of the system is a real-time integration engine, offering instant access to the most trusted and precise weather data, including radar, NAM3K, severe weather alerts, and more—automatically updating for every presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sell AccuWeather’s Augmented Reality System to media clients across the U.S. through virtual meetings and in-person visits.
  • Prospect, qualify, and close new opportunities by leveraging industry contacts, market knowledge, and solution-driven sales techniques.
  • Build and maintain relationships with decision-makers across local media, content, and news production markets.
  • Demonstrate product value through compelling presentations, in-person demos, and consultative discussions.
  • Follow up on inbound leads from marketing campaigns, events, trade shows, and digital outreach.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, informing them of new product features, promotions, and best practices.
  • Research and compile lists of potential prospects using directories, trade show data, online sources, and industry contacts.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (product, marketing, support) to deliver excellent pre- and post-sales customer experiences.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in B2B sales, ideally in the media, broadcast, production, or technology space.
  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas and building long-term client relationships.
  • Outstanding presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to manage the full sales cycle independently.
  • Must be able to travel up to 75%.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
