Our client is a global augmented-reality hardware pioneer building advanced optics, waveguides, and display systems for the next generation of smart glasses. Founded in 2011, the company has approximately 1,000 employees and more than a decade of experience taking precision AR technologies from research through scaled manufacturing. Backed by more than $4.3B in funding, the business is evolving into a strategic component supplier for major consumer-electronics and technology partners.

We are hiring an Account Management Director to own strategic OEM relationships through long, technically complex product-development cycles. This is a senior individual-contributor role with no quota and no direct reports. You will help build the account-management function from the ground up while serving as the bridge between partner teams and internal engineering, product, operations, manufacturing, and supply-chain groups.

What you'll do

• Own day-to-day relationships with strategic OEM partners from technical qualification through production

• Serve as the single point of contact across partner and internal engineering, product, operations, and supply-chain teams

• Coordinate design reviews, technical discussions, program milestones, manufacturing readiness, and risk management

• Translate partner priorities into clear internal actions while communicating constraints and tradeoffs with technical credibility

• Advocate for partner needs and keep complex 12 to 18 month programs moving toward production

• Help define the operating model, processes, and standards for a newly formed account-management function

Requirements

• 10 to 15 years of technical account management or customer-facing experience in complex hardware

• Experience in semiconductors, optics, displays, photonics, consumer electronics, sensors, or capital equipment

• A track record of owning strategic or OEM accounts through full product-development cycles rather than short, transactional sales motions

• Technical fluency sufficient to discuss design tradeoffs without always relying on a specialist

• Strong cross-functional leadership across engineering, product, operations, manufacturing, and supply chain

• US work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship

• Willingness to travel approximately 50%, including internationally

Bonus points

• Familiarity with augmented reality, waveguides, display technology, optics, or photonics

• Experience at a component supplier selling into major OEM design cycles

• A background in technical program management, product management, or engineering followed by a move into customer-facing work

• Location in or near Austin, Texas, or Plantation, Florida

Benefits

• Base salary of $160K-$200K

• Unlimited paid time off

• Comprehensive medical and retirement benefits

• Up to $20K in relocation support

• Full-time senior individual-contributor position with no sales quota

• Remote within the United States, with preference for Austin, Texas, or Plantation, Florida

• Approximately 50% travel, including international travel

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
