About the Large Pro Team

The Large Pro team is focused on identifying and acquiring companies with 10+ employees through a combination of inbound and outbound leads. The Large Pro team is also responsible for managing the pros they sell for a period of 30 days post sale by following an account ownership cadence.

About the Role

Looking for a role where each day will present new opportunities and challenges? Do you feel a sense of pride helping a new account grow from just getting started to long term success? If so, the Large Pro team is for you! Members of this team will be expected to thrive in a fast paced, less structured environment where self-motivation and effort will be key indicators of success. Your results will have a direct and profound impact on our customer experience and the Thumbtack bottom line.

What you'll do

  • Acquire and activate Large pros using a combination of inbound and outbound lead sources.
  • Become an expert in the Thumbtack product to provide both successful onboarding for new pros and a high level of effective service and support for your retained book of business.
  • Be ready and willing to share new ideas and offer improvements to existing strategies.
  • Maintain positive relationships with pros and guide them through a successful pro experience with an eye on potential expansion opportunities through additional service categories or locations.
  • Work hand-in-hand with  frontline managers to strategize individual accounts, both during the sales cycle and during retention. Be ready to come with feedback ideas to solve together.
  • Have excellent pipeline management skills to successfully navigate between multiple types of leads and effectively manage a growing book of business.
  • Be a self-starter; the key to success in this role is the ability and willingness to put in the effort needed to see success. This is a role where you will get out what you put in- those that achieve KPI and are ready to work hard are the ones that see sustained success.

In order to be successful, you must bring

  • 3-5 years of sales experience- cold calling experience a must
  • Account manager or customer care is extremely preferred
  • Ability to build relationships with multiple decision makers over multiple levels of an organization. This sales process will require you to take time and build necessary value at multiple stops in the process. These sales aren’t churn and burn; we are looking for high value pros that we can build a long term relationship with, not someone we need to replace in 30 days
  • You are strategic - you are going to deal with gatekeepers, multiple decision makers and constant barriers between you and the person you need to speak with next. Successful Large Local Account Managers will know how to hedge relationships and think differently to overcome these obstacles
  • Ability to use consultative, benefits based selling to help multiple business partners in a business see and feel the need for working with Thumbtack. This isn’t going to be a one pitch and out, these sales will require building relationships and multiple pitches
  • You have a strong discovery cadence that allows you to build rapport and gain access to a client’s needs, wants, business structure and key players. You will need to learn a business inside and out to build the correct value to close a deal
  • Ability to leverage both internal and external resources/partners to drive results
  • Proficient in Salesforce, Google Suite

Expected salary ranges

  • For candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $112,500 - $137,500.
  • For candidates living in Austin, TX or Washington DC metros or in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Washington states, the expected salary range for the role is currently $101,300 - $123,800
  • For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $95,700 - $116,900.

Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
