For more than 50 years, our commitment to making classrooms better places, serving educators, and supporting accessible learning experiences for all students has driven the continuous improvement of our innovative programs. Our team of more than 2,500 employees is composed of lifelong learners who stand behind this mission, working tirelessly to serve the educational community with world-class programs and support every day.

The Account Development Specialist is an Inside Sales role focused on growing partnerships with K–12 schools and districts. At the heart of this job, you'll help educators discover and adopt tools and curriculum that directly improve student outcomes — combining relationship-building, product expertise, and consultative conversations to drive revenue growth and mission impact.

In this role, the Specialist acts as a prospecting agent for both new and existing accounts, conducting outreach efforts through calls, trials, emails, and presenting online product demonstrations.

This role is an excellent opportunity for former educators looking to transition into EdTech while continuing to make a meaningful impact on teaching and learning at scale.

What you’ll do:

Build Educator Partnerships

  • Effectively manage inbound leads, following defined processes and engagement models
  • Proactively reach out to decision makers, generating and advancing pipeline opportunities through the sales cycle
  • Conduct exploratory conversations to understand educator needs
  • Deliver virtual product demonstrations to interested educators
  • Consistently meet or exceed activity and sales goals tied to quarterly bonuses

Collaborate & Grow

  • Build product expertise and understanding of K-8 classroom challenges and trends
  • Maintain accurate opportunity and customer data in CRM (Salesforce)
  • Gather competitive information and share market insights with internal teams to inform strategy
  • Partner closely with territory Educational Sales Consultants and cross-functional teams
  • Represent the company at in-person conferences or school visits

Who we’re looking for:

You don't need a traditional sales background to thrive here — many of our strongest performers came straight from the classroom. What matters most:

  • Customer-centric mindset with a background in teaching, sales, or customer success—a genuine passion for improving education and supporting teachers and students
  • Ability to translate classroom experience into consultative conversations with educators, understanding instructional needs and connecting them to solutions
  • Results-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proficiency with essential business applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and chat-based AI tools, preferred experience with Salesforce (CRM) but not required
  • Strong curiosity and the ability to quickly learn new products and processes
  • Comfort with decision-making, accountability and managing multiple priorities
  • Flexible thinking to pivot, adjust and strategize
  • Demonstrates integrity, ethical standards, and professionalism
  • A passion for improving education and supporting teachers and students

What working here feels like:

Career Growth: Structured onboarding and product training is just the beginning. The Account Development team operates in a fast-moving, collaborative environment where ideas are tested quickly and where seasonal priorities align with the K–12 academic calendar. Ongoing learning and development along with mentorship prepare employees for new challenges, products and territories with the opportunity to move into advanced roles over time.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of work experience with a background in sales, customer service, or K-12 education (or a combination)—teaching experience is highly valued and considered directly relevant
  • Or a combination of education and experience that proves competencies required for the role. Transferrable skills and/or relevant expertise is preferred.

Benefits and Pay Range:

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
