Accessories Product Manager

ABOUT Slate

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Who we are looking for:

This role can support either exterior or interior hard-goods products. Reporting directly to the Head of Accessories Product Management, you are customer-led in everything that you do. Your primary responsibility is to translate customer needs into useful products that foster deep brand connections through expression. As a product manager, you will drive the end-to-end product lifecycle development, with extensive creative partnership with our Brand team.

What you get to do:

  • You obsess over enabling world-class personalization for our customers by bringing products to market.
  • You will use strategic and quantitative analysis to support recommendations for new products, assign features and specs, facilitate trade-off decision making, and lead business execution.
  • Manage assigned product items for performance, customer satisfaction, and company impact.
  • Conduct market studies and keep product offerings fresh with our customer base.
  • Execute and improve the product development process and then manage the end-to-end cycle of approved products on the line plan. This includes product sunset management.
  • Collaborate and act as project manager across Design, Engineering, Supply-Chain, Finance, Legal, Brand and Commercial teams to ensure Slate accessories are inspiring, on-time, and on budget.
  • Partner with Brand and Legal teams to secure product licensing and reseller agreements.
  • Create presentations and documentations and present to cross-functional leadership. This includes product updates and recommendations. We share the spotlight!
  • Travel to suppliers and Slate office sites (10-25% average) to support team and project work.
  • Have a lot of fun working on a dynamic and engaging team with a seat at the table.

What you bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, or equivalent. MS/MBA a Plus. Exceptional experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in hardware product and programs: preferably automotive/power sports accessories, lifestyle accessories, engineering, or product development.
  • Proven track-record of taking products from concept-to-creation, with strong project management, analytical, and communication skills. You will project manage your own products.
  • Comfortable in start-up environments. You can roll up your sleeves to do the work and build or recommend the tools needed to be successful as the company grows.
  • A proactive “one company” teammate with a continuous improvement approach, that is equally comfortable with engineering details and business planning.
  • Capability to work cross-functionally with partners, suppliers, and vendors, building strong relationships that produce positive results.
  • An ability to be an effective brand representative and ambassador to the Slate community, both presenting the Slate vision and collecting input that leads to future accessories' development.

Why Join Team Slate?

At Slate, we’re fueled by grit, determination, and attention to detail. The start-up spirit of ingenuity and resourcefulness move our business forward. Team Slate fosters a culture of excellence, innovation, and mutual respect, and is motivated by shared principles.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
