Provide technical support to customers using robotic systems, resolving issues, documenting processes, and collaborating with engineering teams for improved operations.
The summary above was generated by AI
Field AI is transforming how robots interact with the real world. We are building risk-aware, reliable, and field-ready AI systems that address the most complex challenges in robotics, unlocking the full potential of embodied intelligence. We go beyond typical data-driven approaches or pure transformer-based architectures, and are charting a new course, with already-globally-deployed solutions delivering real-world results and rapidly improving models through real-field applications.

We're looking for a Technical Support Specialist with a passion for robotics and problem-solving. You’ll be a key partner to our customers, helping them get the most out of cutting-edge robotic systems. You’ll work closely with our engineering and product teams, dive deep into technical challenges, and be the voice of the user in shaping our technology. If you are enthusiastic about advanced hardware and software systems and take pride in helping users navigate complex technologies with ease, this position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact.

What You Will Get to Do

  • Be the first point of contact for customers experiencing technical issues with our robotics systems, providing prompt and professional support via email, phone, and ticketing platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve a wide range of issues, including mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software-related problems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to replicate, document, and escalate unresolved technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain support documentation including FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Guide customers through onboarding processes and train users on system setup, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Continuously monitor system performance data and provide proactive support for recurring issues.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal support processes and tools, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
  • Provide onsite support or operational assistance when required.

What You Have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of hands-on experience in technical support, systems integration, or field engineering—ideally within robotics, automation, or industrial machinery domains.
  • Solid understanding of robotics fundamentals—sensors, actuators, controllers, embedded systems, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with tools like Linux, Python and/or C++, and ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a knack for debugging complex systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Experience working with collaborative robots, autonomous mobile robots, or industrial robotic arms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based remote support tools, IoT platforms, or robotic fleet management dashboards.
  • Prior experience writing or contributing to technical documentation or training material.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and juggle multiple priorities without losing focus on the customer.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese, with the ability to provide clear, accurate, and culturally aware support to diverse customer bases.

Compensation and Benefits
Our salary range is generous ($70,000 - $200,000 annual), but we take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary; base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  Also, while we enjoy being together on-site, we are open to exploring a hybrid or remote option.

Why Join Field AI?
We are solving one of the world’s most complex challenges: deploying robots in unstructured, previously unknown environments. Our Field Foundational Models™ set a new standard in perception, planning, localization, and manipulation, ensuring our approach is explainable and safe for deployment.

You will have the opportunity to work with a world-class team that thrives on creativity, resilience, and bold thinking. With a decade-long track record of deploying solutions in the field, winning DARPA challenge segments, and bringing expertise from organizations like DeepMind, NASA JPL, Boston Dynamics, NVIDIA, Amazon, Tesla Autopilot, Cruise Self-Driving, Zoox, Toyota Research Institute, and SpaceX, we are set to achieve our ambitious goals.

Be Part of the Next Robotics Revolution
To tackle such ambitious challenges, we need a team as unique as our vision — innovators who go beyond conventional methods and are eager to tackle tough, uncharted questions. We’re seeking individuals who challenge the status quo, dive into uncharted territory, and bring interdisciplinary expertise. Our team requires not only top AI talent but also exceptional software developers, engineers, product designers, field deployment experts, and communicators.

We are headquartered in always-sunny Mission Viejo (Irvine adjacent), Southern California and have US based and global teammates.

Join us, shape the future, and be part of a fun, close-knit team on an exciting journey!

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. Candidates and employees are always evaluated based on merit, qualifications, and performance. We will never discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, martial status, mental or physical disability, or any other legally protected status.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
