Job Summary:

We are seeking highly motivated emerging talent to participate in a 10-week immersive internship program from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. This program offers university students hands-on experience through project-based work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Throughout the program, Interns will have exposure to mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities.

The Software Engineer intern will support Voyager Technologies at one of the following locations:

• San Diego, CA
• El Segundo, CA
• Folsom, CA
• Reno, NV
• Long Beach, CA
• Pittsburgh, PA
• Houston, TX

The Software Engineering Intern will support the engineering team with a variety of activities related to software development, testing, integration, and technical documentation. This internship provides an opportunity to apply software engineering principles to real-world projects while collaborating with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams.

The intern may contribute to projects involving software development, application or service development, automation, data systems, APIs, testing, or other software engineering initiatives based on current business and engineering priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software for assigned projects.
• Learn and work with existing software systems, codebases, APIs, databases, and development tools as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of software features, tools, services, or applications.
• Assist with integrating software components and validating functionality through testing and debugging.
• Develop and execute test cases or other methods to verify software meets defined requirements.
• Participate in troubleshooting and resolving software issues.
• Document technical designs, implementation approaches, testing activities, and integration steps.
• Collaborate with software, systems, engineering, and other cross-functional teams as needed.
• Participate in code reviews, team meetings, technical discussions, training sessions, and other learning opportunities.
• Contribute ideas for improving software functionality, development processes, and team efficiency.
• Complete assigned projects and deliverables accurately and within established timelines.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university, preferably pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of fundamental software engineering and programming concepts.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Familiarity with software development principles, APIs, databases, or related technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
• Ability to learn and apply new programming languages, technologies, tools, and development environments.
• Ability to travel for in-person orientation and program kickoff, as well as for the final presentation at program completion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship, coursework, academic project, or other relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience developing software applications, services, scripts, or automation tools.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience working with APIs, databases, cloud technologies, or software development frameworks.
• Exposure to software testing, debugging, or continuous integration/deployment practices.
• Familiarity with AI/ML, data processing, embedded software, or other specialized technologies is a plus, depending on project needs.

Hourly Pay Range: $23.50-$30.00 per hour

*Hourly rate determined by academic year, college major, line of business, geography
