The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a graduate level Power Systems Engineering Intern for the Mission Payloads Division (MPD), a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. Position will be full-time and 100% onsite at our office in El Segundo, CA.

Work Model
This position will be located 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide Power Systems Engineering technical support.
  • Apply academic technical skills to create satellite energy balance and / or launch vehicle energy depletion analysis models, while working under the guidance and support of industry experts.
  • Work with experienced Power Systems Engineering staff to increase knowledge and understanding of major satellite subsystem elements that operate on the spacecraft and / or launch vehicle power bus.
  • Utilize and/or develop system level modeling tools and resources that facilitate hardware performance characterization.
  • Learn how satellites operate through launch and initialization.
  • Gain an understanding of how other spacecraft subsystems and related focus areas like Thermal Control, Attitude Control, Flight Mechanics, and Communications work concurrently to generate data products for vehicle level assessments.
  • Gain exposure to power electronics modeling, simulation, and testing in a laboratory environment.
  • Write clear and concise reports that document your work.
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled full-time in a Master's or PhD program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full-time after completion of the internship.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed coursework and/or fundamental knowledge of power systems.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
