General Description:  To provide visionary leadership in the growth, development and management of the school’s worship, visual, performing and fine arts program. This director will create an environment of excellence through the arts that displays authenticity in worship and creative expression. UCA recognizes that education and teaching is an integral part of the 5-fold ministry given to the church in Ephesians 4:11-13.  As such, UCA administrators serve as ministers to help advance the mission and vision of United Christian Academy.

 

Reports to:   Superintendent and indirectly to school level principals

Qualifications & Responsibilities

Qualities Necessary to be Successful in this Position:

  • Must be a born-again Christian.
  • Must be a credible Christian role model whose godly lifestyle and character demonstrate obedience to God and the Holy Bible.
  • Must be able to support and comply with the school’s Statement of Faith and Statement of Conduct and the Ministry of Teaching Statement.
  • Must embrace and demonstrate the UCA culture, partnering with administration by presenting a united front in leadership decisions.
  • Must be an active member of an evangelical, Bible-believing church.
  • Must have an understanding of and commitment to UC Academy’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Must have sufficient health and physical endurance to be able to complete the assigned responsibilities.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and RenWeb or other student management learning system.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills, with proper command of the English language.
  • Able to work well independently, manage time well, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must possess Biblical knowledge and the ability to integrate Scripture into the educational process.
  • Must have an understanding of and commitment to UC Academy’s educational objectives and philosophy of education.
  • Must hold a BA from a four-year college or university. A Master’s degree (MA) or equivalent is preferred. Prior successful experience working in a similar role strongly preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • TB clearance within the last four years
  • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986: An Eligibility Verification Form (I-9) will be required along with the supporting documents listed on the I-9 form.

 

Part 1:  Personal and Spiritual Responsibilities

1. Display a personal decorum that models professionalism, modesty, and good taste​​​​​​​

2. Model Christian virtues in attitude, speech, and action

  • Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23)
  • Develops and maintains a ministry mindset and a servant’s heart, attending to the spiritual growth and development of students
  • Model and cultivate habits of prayer, faith, and encouragement
  • Demonstrates an approachable and teachable spirit
  • Commits and contributes to a local church

​​​​​​​3. Maintain good attendance and physical endurance to fulfill job duties

4. Use professional office and phone etiquette appropriate for a Christian school office

  • Shows positive, cheerful attitude with parents, students, and staff
  • Shows integrity in dealing with confidential information

Part 2:  Administrative Responsibilities

​​​​​​​1. Develop and implement a comprehensive arts program that includes music (vocal and instrumental), drama, and fine arts.​​​​​​​

2. Provide administrative leadership and oversight that leads the growth and continual improvement of the school’s worship and fine arts programs.

​​​​​​​3. Works with the executive team, administrators, and faculty to conceptualize and design all creative aspects of the worship, performing and fine arts programs at UCA. ​​​​​​​

4. Collaborates with Elementary, Junior High, and High School Principals to organize and execute chapel worship programs.​​​​​​​

5. Cast vision for creating a culture of excellence through creative expression and worship.​​​​​​​

6. Works with the School Principals and Human Resources to recruit, organize, train, and care for faculty under your supervision.

​​​​​​​7. Supervises and evaluates faculty within the arts department with a major focus on building rapport and buy-in for program growth.

8. Schedules all UCA performances from K-12.  Includes but is not limited to Christmas program, art fairs, theater performances, chapel worship teams, etc.

9. Manages the fine arts budget.

10. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, and parents and professionally resolves conflict.

11. Professionally represents UCA in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.

 

Part 3: Supervision Responsibilities

​​​​​​​1. Ensure that all aspects of the worship, performing, and fine arts departments advance the vision, values, and philosophy of the school.​​​​​​​

2. Supervises the preparation of performances and related activities, providing support and feedback to faculty to achieve excellent outcomes.

​​​​​​​3. Attends in-service meetings, admin meetings, and other department meetings as required.

 

Part 4: Other Responsibilities

​​​​​​​1. Serve on the Admin Council if requested.​​​​​​​

2. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing/walking (40%), sitting (40%), lifting (5%), climbing (5%), bending (4%), squatting (6%). Must be able to lift 10-25 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment includes indoor and outdoor environments and office and classroom settings. Floating desk assignment and/or shared office space may be required; moderate noise levels commensurate to an office/classroom environment.
