Key Responsibilities

Applied Materials’ Plasma Product Modeling team in Silicon Product Group is searching for an intern to join our team in summer 2025! The intern will collaborate with modeling experts to study the fundamentals of nanoscale etching and deposition processes for leading edge semiconductor technologies. The intern will utilize a variety of tools and techniques including quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, and Monte Carlo feature scale modeling for these studies. The intern will closely interact with experimentalists designing these technologies and products for our major customers. Major responsibilities will include

  • Assessing machine learning based potentials for examining plasma surface interactions at the atomic scale
  • Developing Monte Carlo feature scale models utilizing know-how from more fundamental techniques
  • Devising solutions to challenging materials processing problems
  • Investigating the application of machine learning to accelerate technology development
