The Engineering Applications Department is seeking an Undergraduate Frontend Development Intern for the Engineering Applications Department (EAD) within the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). This position will be based in El Segundo, CA.
Job Summary
ISCD staff members couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.
EAD develops a wide variety of innovative tools and applications to support civil, commercial, and national security space systems. From virtual and augmented reality, to web, cloud, and desktop visualization; EAD evaluates and creates unique visual experiences that present data and analysis to key decision makers.
Work Model
This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop user-friendly and interactive web interfaces for engineering applications
  • Collaborate on the implementation of graphical user interfaces and enhance user experience
  • Utilize graphics visualization and data visualization techniques to help engineers solve space and ground system engineering problems
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on project progress and results to team members and stakeholders
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for new capabilities and research

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full- time after completion of the internship.
  • Experience with frontend development technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment standard processes
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Ability to work both independently, and collaboratively within a team
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to take initiative
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Previous internship or project experience in frontend UI development
  • Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.js, Chart.js, or Three.js
  • Development experience with graphical user interfaces and lighting in Unreal Engine
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and asynchronous data fetching techniques
  • Familiarity with UX design tools like Figma or Sketch.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and compliance (e.g., WCAG guidelines)

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
