Position OverviewA growing transportation and logistics organization is seeking experienced 1099 Freight Agents and Independent Freight Brokers to build and scale domestic and international freight business. This is a performance-driven opportunity for professionals who understand how to generate margin, control execution, and grow accounts independently.
This is not a plug-and-play brokerage seat. The focus is on disciplined operators who understand freight economics, pricing strategy, and long-term account ownership.
A book of business is preferred but not mandatory. Proven freight exposure is non-negotiable.
• Prospect, develop, and close new freight opportunities across domestic and international lanes
• Build long-term customer relationships and expand wallet share
• Quote freight lanes, negotiate carrier rates, and protect margin
• Manage shipments cradle-to-grave or leverage internal operations support
• Collaborate with carrier partners, steamship lines, airlines, and 3PL providers
• Maintain shipment visibility and accountability with customers
• Own revenue performance, pipeline discipline, and long-term growth trajectory
Requirements
• Proven background in freight brokerage, freight forwarding, or asset-based logistics sales
• Strong understanding of freight lanes, capacity cycles, pricing strategy, and margin protection
• Ability to self-generate business with minimal oversight
• Comfortable operating independently within a 1099 structure
• High accountability and commercial maturity
• Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
Preferred Experience • Existing book of business
• Multi-modal exposure including FTL, LTL, drayage, air, or ocean
• Established carrier and customer relationships
