The General Counsel acts as the chief legal advisor for Hyundai AutoEver’s U.S. operations, providing strategic and operational guidance on all legal, compliance, risk management, and corporate governance matters. This role partners with executive management, business units, and external counsel to ensure the company’s operations comply with applicable laws and regulations, mitigate risk, and uphold ethical standards.

 

What you will be doing?

  • Lead and manage all legal matters across North American operations, including compliance, contracts, employment law, intellectual property, regulatory matters, litigation, and risk management.
  • Advise executive leadership and departmental heads on legal strategies, risk analysis, business transactions, and dispute resolution.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, vendor contracts, service agreements, licensing, technology, and software arrangements.
  • Manage external legal counsel, including budgeting and performance oversight for litigation and specialized matters.
  • Proactively monitor legislative and regulatory developments in the automotive, technology, and mobility sectors.
  • Safeguard and manage company intellectual property, including trademark, copyright, and trade secret portfolios.
  • Develop and maintain company policies and procedures aligned with best practices and legal requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from accredited law school, membership in the California State Bar.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant legal experience, preferably with both in-house and law firm background (including supervisory experience).
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate, commercial, compliance, and employment law; IT, data privacy, and intellectual property experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in automotive, technology, IT services, or related business sector is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop legal teams.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.

Base Salary Range $181,240 - $259,160
